iOS 5.0.1 Begins Showing Up In Cydia SHSH List

As you can see, iOS 5.0.1 has begun appearing in the Cydia SHSH list.
Something that we had not expected today was for iOS 5.0.1 to start showing itself in the Cydia SHSH list. This is the first appearance of iOS 5 in Cydia's SHSH list to date. It seems that Cydia has begun showing support for the new firmware and while it is still unconfirmed at this point in time - we might be able to start using Cydia's server for downgrading at some point in time. Before today, Cydia stopped caching firmware SHSH blobs at iOS 4.3.5.
What does this mean? It could mean quite a few things; it could even mean nothing. It could mean that a workaround for downgrading iOS 5 firmwares is being worked on so that we can use Cydia's server for downgrading as iOS 4 always has been able to do. It could mean that Cydia is starting to save newer firmware SHSH blobs for no reason. Whatever the case, it appears to be a tunnel with a bright light up ahead.
With the iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak right around the corner, pod2g handed his data over to the Chronic Dev Team, this could mean that the development teams are also working on a way to save iOS 5 SHSH blobs and APtickets both locally and remotely just like we would see on iOS 4. When on iOS 4, upgrading to a firmware and then jailbreaking it would upload your new SHSH blobs to Cydia and you would see them appear on your Cydia main page.
At this point in time, we don't have enough information about it. When we hear more, we will be updating you on the news. But for now, be aware that they are up to something over there.
What do you think that iOS 5.0.1 blobs showing up in Cydia might be signaling? Share your thoughts in the comments.

My 5.0.1 showed up in Cydia yesterday when I took my iPad 1 running iOS 4.2.1 GP and upgraded to 5.0.1 redsn0w. Didn't realize that was news! Makes sense though... Agreed that great things are in sight!

By the by, you don't need Cydia to help you downgrade 5.0.1 firmware. You can do it on a Mac with redsn0w and tinyumbrella.

What do I think? I think that when someone tweets you some news you could at least mention that you were tipped but I guess journalist means something different here at Modmyi. Slightly annoying.

No offense Anthony, u post good articles most of the time but this one is crap. I noticed the shsh for 5.0.1 In Cydia yesterday and opened this article thinking u actuall had some real news on what this meant for us "users". But it doesn't. It's a case of "premature reportalation" lmao. Please don't take offense to this. I'm not ripping on you but u could've gathered a few more details before posting this. I'm sure most of us don't know any more info than what we knew before we read it. I, myself appreciate all of you guys at modmyi and the hard work u do for us. Please find out what's up with the blobs and let us know in a post
