Thread: I am now running a Cingular SIM in my iPhone!

    Default Other network SIMS
Can other brands of SIMS work with iPhone? Besides from AT&T and Cingular SIMS? Like, GSM SIMS in other countries?

Default But will it work with 1.1?
I almost went this route, but my big concern was that after the upcoming firmware update, my older SIM would no longer be recognized.

The iPhone is made to accept Cingular sim cards.

When I got my iPhone (on iDay 6/29) the FIRST thing I did was switch out the SIM and put my old Cingular SIM in. I did this cuz I am on a family plan and was afraid of messing it up.

The iPhone worked just fine.. The only noticeable issue, was visual voicemail did not work. A quick call to 611 got it resolved. It has been running great ever since.

I did notice the stock iPhone SIM does have a big 3G logo on it, hmmm......

Ok so the good thing about this is that you do not have to sign up for the iphone data package. Am i right? Cause i had unlimited text and internet for 20 bucks cheaper. and if thats the case i can just do this and take that package off. Or has anyone already taken those packages of the account and still had a functioning iphone? THanks
