iPhone 5 Spotted in iOS 5.1 Code?

Of course there will be an iPhone refresh soon, but this line of code just confirms it.

iOS 5.1 Beta 1, along with Xcode 4.3 was seeded to Apple developers yesterday and it held some secrets within including a possible Sprint iPad to be set for release. Another device which has been spotted is the next iPhone, which Apple is apparently starting to work on because iOS 5.1 supports it. As shown in the image above, under the machine list you can clearly see iPhone5,1 which is the next iPhone. The iPhone 4S is labeled as iPhone4,1. As 9to5Mac explains, the major jump in numbers means that there is a huge internal difference between the devices. The same can be said for the iPhone 4 to the iPhone 4S which jumped from iPhone3,1 to iPhone 4,1. Could this next iPhone sport an A6 chip? Probably, and most likely. It also may hold that new design that we have been hoping for.

While we know that the iPhone sill see a refresh in due time, the thing that we don't know is when or what it will look like. That is the big question that is always circling news sites as large rumors. While jailbreak developer teams such as the iPhone Dev Team, Chronic Dev Team, and Pwn Dev Team continue to try to hack into the iOS 5 and A5 code to come up with a jailbreak for the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S, Apple is already possibly a step ahead and designing the custom A6 chip to be held in their next devices. It's only a matter of time.

Of course the next iPhone will have either the "iPhone5,1", or "iPhone4,2" machine identifier. It probably won't be called "iPhone 5" though, "iPhone 4G" is a far more likely marketing name. But what about that "iPhone3,3"? To my knowledge, it never saw the light of day.

Do they typically exclude certain devices in iOS betas? The 3GS part number (2,1) isn't listed there which is discouraging but then again there are no iPod touch models listed at all

Me too bud. My wife had a cranberry so I opted for a 4s and she loves it. Doesn't. Are all that much for a JB. At least I can say I've had my grubby hands on every iPhone launched in Canada, but myself, I too am waitin for the 5. My 4 is good enough for now

I think this is rather early for iPhone5 rumors to start. Apple won't release anything until at least Spring/Summer 2012 as people just bought the 4S and are still selling out.
