It was pulled by Google because of some bugs.

Not pushed
I find the web application combined with an app called Push GMail just fine for checking my mail and the native mail app to make sure I have the most recent 200 e mails. Can't say I'm madly excited about this release. Mad that they could get as far as a release and then find it was no good though

I once prayed to God for an iPhone, but quickly found out He didn't work that way...so I stole an iPhone and prayed for His forgiveness.

Yes, if all you're looking for is push gmail, but if you are like me and use gmail at work (Google Apps) and gmail at home (personal) then you most likely want to use all the various gmail features labels, stars, priority, etc you can't do any of that from any app, you have to do it via the web. Gmail app solves this issue.
