Question about a tethered jailbreak. If I have to reboot, which happens quite a bit installing apps off of Cydia, do I have to keep putting it in DFU mode, or can I just reboot then hit the Jailbreak Now button?

Couldn't seem to find this anywhere - if I'm using the ultras0w unlock on an iPhone 3GS - upgrade to iOS 5 (and preserve the unlockable baseband), would I still be able to make phone calls using this semi-tether? I know the phone will work just fine once it is booted while tethered, but since the unlock relies on mobile substrate and ultrasn0w, just not sure if I'll still be able to use the phone if booted semi-tethered.

He's the Big Boss.
You wanna use Big Boss' tools? You play by Big Boss' rules.
Or you can moan and sputter, about how unfair it is that other people restrict your freedom. Insisting that you get what you want, oblivious to the social impact of your wants, isn't usually considered a sign of great maturity.ohh booo hooo..wa wa wa...bunch of babies.Last edited by raduga; 10-31-2011 at 01:13 PM.

This is not the reason why Semi-tether uninstalls **********. Installing ********** also installs *******, which patches actual systems files to allow you to install non-signed .ipa files. Unfortunately, the way in which semi-tether works conflicts with the files that ******* patches and ends up causing an endless reboot if you install semi-tether and then reinstall **********/*******. There is a nice explanation on the BigBoss website (essentially, if ******* were to use MobileSubstrate instead of patching files there would no conflict).
Finally, ********** is not just useful for those who pirate software, but for those who like to try before they buy. There have been a couple of rather expensive apps ($30+) that I would not have bought if I wasn't able to give them a try out first - thankfully ********** allowed me to do this. While reviews are great and everything, sometimes you really need to use an app to make sure it will suit your needs - it's nice to be able to do that without throwing away your money.
In other news, I did some digging around and found that if you use the ultrasn0w unlock, the semi-tether will still work but you won't be able to get a cell signal until you boot tethered - which definitely sucks since the whole point of the semi-tether was to be able to use the important functions of the iPhone (aka the phone). THough base on what semi-tether does, this makes perfect sense. Hopefully the untethered jailbreak will come out sooner than later.Last edited by noraa; 10-31-2011 at 06:42 PM.

And to the rest of the thread about Install ous you need a life
I use it to intall IPA's I have saved from the App store nothing wrong with that, I back up older versions because sometimes the newer versions updates are buggy and I want the older versions
More than one use for the program you know

No you will need to be in DFU mode.
Sometimes the reboot after installing from cydia screws something up gets you stuck on apple boot logo sot the safest way is NOT to hit Reboot Now button in cydia after whatever install you made, rather, close cydia and than manually shut down your iphone than enter DFU mode.
