Steve Jobs Memorial Pamphlet up for Auction on eBay

Apple held a special memorial for Steve Jobs on their Cupertino Campus yesterday with the likes of Randy Newman, Cold Play and Norah Jones performing at the event. While the event was extremely private—Apple Stores that closed down to watch the memorial via a live stream, put curtains up in the store windows—pamphlets from the event have started to surface on eBay.
The pamphlet is extremely simple containing only a transcription of the commencement speech Jobs gave at Stanford in 2005. While incredibly simple, the pamphlet is broken down into multiple pages, in minimalistic Apple fashion.
Each employee was given one copy of the pamphlet adding to the rarity of the keepsake. While many will undoubtedly keep their copy of the pamphlet a few are bound to find their way out of Cupertino. As of now this eBay auction is the only one up for sale. You can Buy It Now for $199.99.
Here is the items description:

I know what you mean, it's really sad. In all honesty, I was in the process of applying to an Apple retail store and if I had the job before the memorial, I would of kept my copy of the pamphlet, just so I can say I witnessed the event and have some memory of Steve in my later years.

I agree with it being too soon to start the bidding for scraps of Steve Jobs life but unfortunately I think we all knew it would happen. It sold for $125. I was thinking ti would of went for more. Imagine the value of it in 10 or 20 years.

Man this forum is getting flooded more and more with people who have no idea what modmyi is..
I don't think it's wrong to sell the pamphlet since it is theirs' but out of respect I wouldn't. It just would not be right trying to make money off of somebody's death who happens to be famous. So I guess that would be wrong... Hmmm
Wow, I don't think that is entirely true but that is a very good point. It definitely does have some truth.Last edited by mmaboi21; 10-20-2011 at 12:59 PM.

Business is business. I am not sure I would want to keep this pamphlet if I got one. If it did it would likely make it into a "box of crap" that would end up being culled years later. Why not make a couple bucks off of it while the getting is good? A great example is autographs. The sought after autograph goes up in price many times over (depending on the celebrity) after death. It's the way of the world.

If I was famous and they gave pamphlets out for my funeral/ memorial, I'd high five someone for making a Benjamin or two off of the pamphlet.

I don't see an issue with selling it. I mean it is sad that he passed on and so early...but seriously people die everyday. Some people need to get a grip.
