You are getting that error most likely because your hosts are not pointed to Apple.

He would still get that same error in 7 days with the public version if his hosts are not correctly set.

I had to install itunes 10.5 beta 7 on another computer to get the update to iOS5 to work.

I have iOS 5 running on my iphone 4 but cannot get iTunes to recognize my phone..Is anyone else having this issue? I cannot restore from backup and cannot sync. I'm on iTunes 10.5 beta 9.

Use 10.5 beta 7

And what should my hosts be? I have tried on 2 separate computers which have a fresh Win7 install on them, so my hosts are the default iTunes hosts

Getting damn error 14. Itunes beta 7, correct firmware. Tried multiple cable, usb ports, powered hub, etc. Itunes will also not restore to 4.3.5 on this system after the error. I have to do that on a different computer

got phone to restore anyhow noticed that i dont have the open camera app from lock screen should it show up automatically or do you have to turn it on please advise thanks.

You double tap home button on the lockscreen to get it to show up.

I also had error 3491 for a day or so, it seemed no matter what i tried i couldnt get rid of it, a lot of people were saying to add this line to my hosts file:

74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com

It would not work untill i added the has mark in front of it:

# 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com

If you add that line to your hosts file it will get rid of error 3491

I try to restore iOS 5, I make it to preparing to restore iPhone, apple and loading bar on iPhone but just hangs there, using iTunes 10.5 beta 7, sometimes error 1611 and 1600

Just so no one is fooled, putting a # at the front of a line in the hosts file makes it a comment, i.e. it is ignored and had no effect.
