Default T-Mobile Still Not Getting The iPhone This Fall

Android dominates T-Mobile’s network as 90 percent of smartphones sold run Google’s mobile OS. However, that doesn’t mean they wouldn’t enjoy a little iOS love.

T-Mobile Chief Marketing Officer Cole Brodman while speaking at the GigaOM Mobilize conference confirmed again that T-Mobile would not be joining the iPhone party during the iPhone 5 launch this fall. Sprint is rumored to be getting the iPhone and Brodman made it known that it isn't T-Mobile's fault they don't sell the iPhone.

“We’d love to have the iPhone whenever Apple makes that available,” Brodman said. “The ball is in Apple’s court.”

T-Mobile’s parent company Deutsch Telekom AG blamed T-Mobiles poor performance as the reason behind the carrier not selling the iPhone. The number of subscribers abandoning the network to own the iPhone has hurt growth, but with smartphones making up 75 percent of the phones on T-Mobile’s network there must be at least a marginal market for the iPhone.

With Apple holding out on T-Mobile Brodman when asked about the performance of other smartphone platforms that he is hopeful for a BlackBerry comeback next year.

Brodman should probably place his hope somewhere else, like the Mayans 2012 Doomsday prediction.

It won't be on T-Mobile... Wishful thinking...

I don't want to write an essay, but since T-Mobile's future is up in the air I don't see it coming anytime soon.

Maybe Apple is holding out on T-Mobile to reduce the company's value so we may one day see a headline that looks like.... "Apple acquires T-Mobile in stunning buyout!" I personally don't see the AT&T buyout going through....

I mean it's just a tiny little radio change that's stopping T-Mobile from having the iPhone. Kind of thier own fault for running their upload/download on two different frequencies. One of which is slightly oddball... Just saying...

I do see it happening. Most of the arguments are straw arguments. People forget there will be conditions and if AT&T meets those conditions it will go through. The DoJ is going under the assumption that AT&T will get all the customers and all the network which is 100% false from the get go. Just look at Altell and Verizon as a PRIME example. Also this is a election year for the DoJ so some people would jump the gun to get their names out there and use the "Vote for me I was thinking about you(when I really wasn't)." T-Mobile wanted out of the market for the past 5 years, and Sprint short changed them from the start to finish before AT&T even threw an offer. Worst case scenario for customers is T-Mobile just shut it down and sell for parts. Best case T-Mobile gets bought out by AT&T or some other carrier that wants to compete nationally(Which none showed interest in the past 5 years other than AT&T, and Sprint) and not regionally.

Actually no it's not. If it was some minor change People would be running 3G iPhones already on T-Mobile. Why purchase twice the amount of radios when you know one of them will no longer be around. Other manufacturers bought various chipsets in mass bulk for pennies to the dollar.
You honestly CAN'T blame T-Mobile. FCC regulations forced them into picking a different bands. If the FCC regulated like they do in Europe you'd have a case on that one. T-Mobile wanted to use the same frequencies that they used in Europe, but the FCC denied them.

I don't get it. Apple sells unlocked iPhones, and T-mobile has a technical support JUST for iPhone users. T-mobile might as well sell em.

Technically it's T-Mobiles fault because all the different carriers had to bid in an FCC auction for bands and frequencys to use. But not like they have a choice on what frequencies they use.....

Umm, technically, he didn't say they weren't getting the iPhone, he said they weren't getting the iPhone 5. Now, they could get the iPhone 4s or a modified iPhone 4 instead.

Time to either jump to Sprint or go with the HTC Sensation.

What happens if they won't get it, but Apple will incorporate T-Mobile's 4G/3G network. #win if you buy a factory unlocked

If that happens you can bet I'll buy a factory unlocked one. If not I'll probably go with the Sensation or Galaxy SII
