Flash really doesn't belong on the iPhone for the reasons you mentioned and more.

I wouldn't be against a stand-alone flash player, like the one youtube has.

As for youtube on the iPhone, it is all H.264, they re-encode just about everything in H.264 along with Flash video. Now that Flash 9 has H.264 support, I would not be surprised if youtube switched entirely to H.264, as it would improve their video quality, or they could keep it the same an lower the bandwidth to stream all these videos.

Both of these could be handled if Adobe releases a stand-alone flash player like youtube. However, it seems they only want the full flash experience within the safari browser without looking at other alternatives.

apparently some people are content with mediocrity (isheep?). I'm pretty pissed off too. The ONLY reason why I went with a stupid iphone over another PDA type of device was for the future flash implementation.

I have visited many sites who have flash based navigation. (not Porn) I agree that there are ways to build sites that don't need flash and that they can even be better using other technologies but the fact is Steve sold us the iphone with the promise of "the whole internet" well with out flash we are not getting "the whole internet".

I don't care to have flash really. Other than a few flash games I can think of it will only suck battery life and there's nothing we can't do without it. Later if they make a slim iPhone version of flash, great. Why fuss about it though it IS just clunky and extra. I think people just start complaining on here because they think they aren't getting something and they don't even know what the hell they're talking about rofl.
