Redsn0w 0.9.8b6 For iOS 5 Beta 6 Released

Jailbreaking on the iOS 5 beta is at your own risk. Note the consequences and the possible issues you may run into toying with a jailbreak on the iOS 5 beta.
Although the official release of iOS 5 is seemingly drawing near, jailbreak hackers are still pushing out updates to support the next hot and current beta release. With iOS 5 beta 6 out in the wild, it was only a matter of time that redsn0w would be updated to support it.
Very early this morning, MuscleNerd (@MuscleNerd) informed us on Twitter that redsn0w 0.9.8b6 has been released to support iOS 5 beta 6.

Just like the previous iOS 5 beta jailbreaks, the steps are the same:
Point redsn0w to the beta 6 IPSW file and you're good to go.MuscleNerd noted that an update in the notes section of the redsn0w blog posting should be read and noted. Here is what is mentioned at verbatim:
If you wish to download the updated redsn0w, here are the links:Update #6: We’ve released redsn0w 0.9.8b6 to jailbreak iOS5 beta6 (point it directly at the beta6 IPSW). Two important notes about this version: (1) Please let your device boot normally to IOS5b6 and do a clean shutdown (slide to power off) before jailbreaking. (2) Boot logos have intentionally been disabled for now, so you’ll see a black screen on tethered boots (you can re-enable logos or verbose boot with command-line options if you really want them back).
Due increased sensitivity to abrupt filesystem shutdowns in IOS5b6, it’s very important that you do a clean shutdown before running redsn0w.

redsn0w 0.9.8b6 for Windows
Note: Just as a side bit of trivia, this release of redsn0w was updated on a Jetblue flight from Boston to Jacksonville. Even MuscleNerd himself deemed it the "Jetblue edition."

I want to know how much of a risk OTA updates are to the jailbreak community.

Are there any that currently work with iOS 5?
As far as I've seen, none. (I'm running iOS 5 beta 6) The OTA updates don't automatically come in, it asks you. And, if apple ever does make them update automatically, the same day they do it will be the day a jailbreak mod will appear circumventing it. Trust in the resourcefulness of the JB community.Last edited by Donnutt; 08-23-2011 at 01:52 PM.
