Apple Already Approving iOS 5 Apps

iOS5 isn't slated to be released until this fall (presumably alongside the new iPhone), but that hasn't stopped Apple from approving iOS 5 compatible applications for the App Store.

A number of applications like Mashable and Camera+ have pushed out updates via the App Store touting 'iOS 5 Compatibility." Camera+ skirts around naming iOS 5, describing the update as providing "compatibility with that upcoming OS That Must Not Be Named."

It should be noted that these approved applications have not been built with the iOS 5 SDK, but rather are using the iOS 4.3.x, allowing the apps to "play well with the upcoming iOS 5," according to Cult of Mac reader LeechbiteApps, who had his own app rejected for mentioning iOS 5 in the update description.

Still, Apple approving applications that support their upcoming OS is another bullet-point on the list of things pointing the to the imminent release of new iPhones and iOS 5. Please release it already so the Jailbreak community can do its thing and release a million and one improvements for Apple's new OS.

I can't wait for the new iPhone and new iOS version! They've got to be planning the press release any day now.... ugh!

Osfoora was also updated for 5.0. I hadn't noticed any problems with it running 5.0 on previous versions but there are some apps not working right on iOS 5. It's also interesting to note that some apps have worked in some betas but not in others. P.s. the MMi app doesn't work on iOS 5 properly
