iPhone 5 Clones Already Surfacing in China

Shenzen is already all over the iPhone 5 hype with clones of Apple's next generation handset currently available. Mind you Apple hasn't even announced the next generation iPhone yet.
The device picture above does measure in at a scant 7mm thick and looks like it could possibly fit into the supposed iPhone 5 cases that leaked this past week. However, it does look surprisingly ho-hum for a next generation device, and almost appears to be the lovechild of the original iPhone and a iPhone 4.
The possibility that this is in fact the form factor of the next generation iPhone is definitely real considering the cloned devices are often produced alongside or even before devices make it to market. Who is to say someone didn't sell off the form factor or prototype to a pirate company. But, it still is incredibly unlikely that Apple would even come close to allowing a leak like this to happen without squashing it instantly.
If Apple shuts down this operation it might be a clue to its legitimacy. Or not.

[insert grain of salt here]

I call bogus. First, the screen looks like it's SMALLER than the current iPhone 4. Second, on the leaked pictures of the alleged iPhone 5 cases in China, the Mute switch is on the opposite side than on the current iPhones.

Ok yes it's bogus it is said its a clone in the title of the thread!
Second did you ever think the cases shown are iPod touch cases? Notice we're the lock button is? Doubt they change the side of where it is located. Personally I don't think we will see an iPhone 5 till next summer. Apple shows all the new iPods in September so all these new cases look to me to be iPod touch cases. Just my thoughts

Meh, if that's what the 5 is going to look like I'll just stick with my 4.

That thing is grotesque. Not a chance Steve would allow the iPhone 5 to look like that.

I quite like the shape of the 4. I think that is going to be a tough upgrade. IMO the best looking and feeling phone was the original before the 4 was launched. Maybe we will see another two generations of downgrades (in terms of my taste for look/feel) and the iPhone 7 will be the true successor.

its Wayyyy too thick and bulky to be a true Apple prototype. The screens too small, and the front just doesnt look right. at all. definitely a fake

well.
this could always be a leaked prototype of a much older model...
who knows maybe that would've been 3gs but never made it the cut....
or maybe its just some wise *** chinese people meshing a 3gs and 4 together
either way, the final design being like that. is a small chance
if ur referring to these... its not an touch for sure. that hole up top is a headphones jack
so IDK wtf with the mute button

LMFAO
they could've at least spelled Apple right

^^^ Nice catch. Even the font of "iPhone" is different than the one on iPhone 4. Also it says its assembled in USA (not China).
