AirStash Streams Movies and Data to iOS Devices Wirelessly
If you’ve deleted everything on your iPhone that you can possibly live without and you’re still bursting at the seams with movies, music, apps and more, then you might be interested in AirStash for iOS. AirStash ($99.99) is a portable storage device that is slightly smaller than an iPhone and lets you stream all kinds of useful data to your iDevice via Wi-Fi connection. “AirStash makes its own network, so you don't need to be tied to one.”
“AirStash stores your movies, music, photos, and documents and wirelessly shares them with your phone, media player, netbook, tablet, computer, and more. Use AirStash like a USB flash drive to drag & drop the files you want to your SD card while charging the built-in lithium polymer battery, then unplug & play on all of your browser-enabled WiFi devices.”
Put AirStash in the glove compartment on a long road trip and the kids in the backseat will have access to as many SpongeBob or Dora the Explorer episodes that you can fit onto an SD memory card. If you want to use an AirStash device in a more professional environment, then you can do so without fear of being hacked. “With WPA2 encryption, you can quickly and securely distribute presentations and documents during a meeting.”

One nice feature is that you don’t have to install any software or additional apps on your iDevice. “Just connect your WiFi enabled device to your AirStash and instantly surf & stream your media files through your web browser.”
The world may be going in the direction of more cloud-based services, but unless you have a strong internet connection, you won’t be able to take advantage of it. There’s always going to be a need for onboard storage and if you’ve reached your limit, then you can either upgrade your iDevice or pick up an AirStash. Of course, you’ll have to supply your own SD card, but what iPhone user doesn’t have a few of them lying around the house somewhere?

Very cool! I just wish I could use an external hd instead of a cheesy 32gb Sdhc card... Sometimes I'm in environments with zero Internet for months. It'd be nice to be able to stream anything to my iPad without busting out the laptop and transferring video after video...

This seems like something that would come in handy. Hopefully the next iPhone will be 64gb and something like this may not be as necessary though.
