Report: Radically Redesigned iPhone 5 to Arrive in Late August

Reports like these must be taken with a grain of salt, particularly given that it largely flies in the face of most stories we've absorbed since the beginning of this year. But according to a new report from BGR, reliable sources allege that Apple will push its 5th generation iPhone in August, not September as initially - and widely - reported.

Perhaps the most interesting assertion made in the report, however, pertains to the design of the next generation handset. Until now, the overwhelming majority of industry and analysts estimates have suggested that the new iPhone will be remarkably similar to the iPhone 4 with regard to design. The real kicker when it comes to the next iPhone is the way it accommodates iOS 5 and enhances the overall iOS experience for iPhone lovers.

But according to BGR, something "radical" is forthcoming. "While Apple has indeed been giving some developers access to a device known as the iPhone 4S -- an iPhone 4 with upgraded internals -- BGR has independently confirmed that the next-generation iPhone will not merely be an upgraded iPhone 4 as had been previously rumored," the report asserts. "We have been told by a reliable source to expect a radical new case design for the upcoming iPhone. We have not been given any additional details surrounding the design of the new iPhone case, though."

Naturally, this type of report is quickly making its way around the tech blogosphere and even some mainstream media circles today. But again, taking nothing away from the sources BGR cites, it's important to remember that there is near unanimous consensus among everyone from parts suppliers to mobile phone industry analysts that the 5th generation iPhone will be a lot like this year's WWDC - that is, all about the software, not necessarily the hardware.

Meh, don't care. I was eligible for a new phone two days ago so I bought the white iPhone 4. The next time I buy a phone again won't be until 2013.

damit noooo i wanted it too look the same just with betta specs because when ppl bought it they would have the phone that looks exactly the same as the current iphone 4 and then i would have gotten the next iphone the one with the redesign and shoved it in their faces now this phone coming out is the one with the redesign and i cant get it crap

its worth noting that ThisIsMyNext did a write up based on information from multiple sources and the group running that site has a pretty good track record. If BGR does even half as good a job at using reputable sources then there are a number of reliable sources pointing towards the overhaul.
