Theme Of The Week: oAsis HD | Metal BGB
Another installment of Theme Of The Week is here. These themes are both great contenders and definitely reflect a lot of time and effort on the designers part. Our two themes this week are oAsis HD and Metal BGB; both bAdGB themes. Their respective forum threads can be found below:
Thanks to @_robink for the Theme Of The Week banner. If you have any ideas for Theme Of The Week or would like to design a banner for Theme Of The Week, email me here.
When it comes to comprehensive, oAsis HD is high up there for one of the most wide-spread themes I have ever reviewed. Although not a true "oasis and palm tree" theme, with its sunken and slick icons and loading screens, it is unique and well-designed. oAsis HD also has a SpringBoard weather widget and animated lockscreen which adds a little flavor to the overall look. Each application has a loading screen which is cool because it appears as if the application is initializing. Adds a cool twist to the functionality on your iDevice. On top of the above, the theme leaves a lot of customization up to the user. With various color additions and packages that theme certain Cydia applications, one's device can be completely decked out. One thing I did find a little difficult was that some applications (e.g. WinterBoard) didn't show the text very well. It was difficult to read texts in some areas because of the particular color clash. Otherwise, oAsis HD is a great theme. Here are a few reasons why I think this theme is worth your while:
1. As mentioned above, oAsis HD doesn't leave any part of your iDevice un-themed and without some type of re-design. Even for other installable Cydia applications. oAsis HD supports theming for the following applications plus many more:
- Color Keyboard
2. If you're not satisfied with the base color, oAsis HD has a ton of color packs that allow you to change the color of the theme. Some of the colors include:
- And much more upcoming
Find it on Cydia for $2.99. It is available on all iDevices running firmware 4.0 and above (does not include iOS 5).

A page on the bAdGB team website tells you what is required for running this theme and how to set it up.

With its dark background but bright icons, this theme encompasses a shady yet vibrant ambience. The boxy icons and borders adds structure and organization to the SpringBoard. It has a weather widget not only the SpringBoard but on the lockscreen. One cool aspect of the lockscreen is the "Touch" to unlock button. Although the theme is pretty heavily designed, functionality wasn't hindered whatsoever.
As this theme is currently in beta, there are a few things that are missing (e.g. themed icons). Otherwise, I think this theme has a lot of potential. The best way to run this theme is to follow the bAdGB website for Metal BGB and install the suggested applications. Also, the page provides a tutorial on how to add the theme via SSH and such. Following the instructions and installing the particular applications is the best way to ensure the theme flows with your device. Just like oAsis HD, there were some places on the device that it was difficult to read the text because of the colors.
As mentioned above, Metal BGB is currently in beta but should be released soon. It is unsure about when it will be added to Cydia or how much it will cost. Stay posted. It will be compatible for all devices and firmwares up to 4.3.3 (does not include iOS 5).

Ok, I know that my theme is not finished and I am not the best graphic design artist of all time... but the themes praised on this website suck compared to the themes on DeviantArt. What is the deal with this site?
Dont get me wrong, I love this site. But the innovation in terms of themes is terrible!! I would never pay for any of this junk. But to each his own I guess...
And I guess I may be a little bitter because of the stupid MMI rule that ALL of the UI has to be themed in order to submit for a "paid theme" - although there are ton's of ripped junk as "paid themes" on MMI's repo and even more that is just plain junk.
Oh well. Flame suit on.

1. The Theme Of The Week choices are generally picked directly from the forums. That way people can look at an entire thread about it to get some more background (hence the links at the top of the post.) Also, I have at the top of the post every time that if there are any suggestions for Theme Of The Week to email me. You seem to have a few so take heed and send me suggestions.
2. Don't reconcile your actions in your post. I'm sorry that you are so bitter for some rules (although you can't change them so your complaints are irrelevant) but it does not justify outright bashing someone's work. People have a right to a different opinion however there is a difference between disagreement and outright antagonism. Respect is key and I can you imagine that you would want it just as much as the next guy.
3. If you don't like it, don't buy it. No one is dragging you by the throat to buy these themes. There are some as you mentioned that will like these themes and others will not. But I do respect those people who say "Yeah, I don't like this particular component so I may not buy it" instead of saying "Wow this theme sucks, the artists should go die in a ditch mentality."
So, when you ask a question with "What is the deal with the site?" think about all the people who read through and see vile comments like the one you just posted. Users define the website's nature, environment, and livelihood. Don't choke everyone else's fun.

Thank you Joshua for featuring Primalcscream.40's & my theme
& thanks to you all for an honest opinion if you like them or don't like them
People please don't bash or hate on these themes.... A lot of time and effort went into creating them. if you don't like them that's OK cause themes are like art & music. they are subjective what one person likes another person does not. a good constructive opinion is one thing but to just call them "Junk" is simply hating ... no need for that!
Both of these themes are very complete themes. with animations and weather widgets ..... not just a wallpaper, or a dock, or a simple SC4 theme made to look like the native music LS .... but full UI complete themes

Themes just don't quite appeal to me anymore. I'm still using Classified HD on my 4.0 iPod Touch.

Are these people paying for advertisement of their themes or something? Is MMi putting these advertisements under the guise of "Theme of the Week'?
I only ask because these themes are horrible looking. Not mention that they always appear to be pay themes, and not free like most.
