WWDC: Twitter Integration Coming to iOS 5
The rumors of system wide Twitter integration in iOS 5 have turned out to be true. With more than a billion Tweets per week now being posted through Twitter, it will now be easier than ever to let the world know exactly what you’re up to at any moment of the day with iOS 5.
Starting with iOS 5 you’ll be able to Tweet directly from within apps as well. You’ll be able to Tweet directly from Safari, YouTube, and the Camera app and just about anywhere within iOS 5. If you want to let your friends know your current location, simply Tweet it from within the Maps app.
You only need to sign one once in the settings menu and you’re good to go. Once you’re signed in, you won’t have to log in for each app that has Twitter functions. Tweeting will be easier than ever with iOS 5.
The Contacts app is also being integrated with Twitter for greater convenience. Take a picture of a new friend, enter their name in your Contacts and tweet it to anyone you like. It’ll be just that easy when iOS 5 is released.

While Facebook integration would have been good, Facebook isn't an easy company to deal with. That's probably why they went with Twitter. The good news? This Twitter integration will probably force Facebook to make a deal with Apple.. on Apple's terms.

I don't know anyone that tweets. I signed up for it, but none of my friends are on it.
Facebook integration would have been the bees knees.
