Official Apple Store iPhone App Gets an Upgrade of its Own
As it turns out, both MMi and Apple had a pretty big respective hankering for tweaks and upgrades over the weekend. In addition to the all-new look gracing the digital presence of ModMyi, Apple has rolled out more than a few upgrades of its own - particularly with regard to the official "Apple Store" application for the iPhone.
For starters, all the familiar attributes are still intact. As always, you can still research and buy products, read reviews, make Genius Bar and One to One appointments, view in-store events, yada, yada, yada. What's new in Version 1.3, however, are a few noteworthy tweaks that could ultimately prove a great boon to the Apple customer experience.
What we have is an "enhanced in-store mode," which, as Apple describes, lets you get help and support quickly when you’re at an Apple Retail Store. But perhaps more interestingly, there is also now the ability to custom-configure a new Mac with the
options you want. In other words, you can build-to-order the Mac you want directly from your iPhone.
Unfortunately, the app in question remains tailored to the iPhone and iPod touch. Yes, you can run it on the iPad, but it's optimized for the small screen of your smallest iDevices, a significant drawback that many Apple users would have probably liked to see revised before any of the other aforementioned tweaks and service additions were made.
