Default China Mobile Announces 4G TD-LTE Agreement with Apple

On Thursday, China Mobile announced a definitive agreement with Apple that provides for the iPhone maker to - at some undefined point in the relatively near future - support the Chinese carrier's fourth-generation TD-LTE data network. According to MarketWatch, the parties have "reached consensus" with no other details provided with regard to Apple's plans for implementation of the fourth-generation technology.

Apple didn't immediately respond to a request for comment on the announcement made by China Mobile Chairman Wang Jianzhou, who maintains that talks with Apple on launching the iPhone "remain ongoing." Wang did, however, confirm that there are now more than 4 million China Mobile customers using the iPhone. But for the time being, China Unicom is the only Chinese mobile operator to offer the popular handset.

In China, one of the biggest impediments to the iPhone's adoption has been access to service. Well aware of this dilemma, China Mobile revealed plans to invest CNY10 billion during the remainder of 2011 to better develop Wi-Fi infrastructure in China.

At the end of March, China Mobile boasted of more wireless subscribers than any carrier on the world stage. How many subscribers does the carrier have? 601 million - twice the entire population of the United States.

Using the best 4G signals available through a Sprint 3G/4G mobile hotspot device, I can play MW2/Black Ops over xBox live. No BS. And that's on Sprint's current crappy-fake 4G.

I think when the technology is refined and widely available, it will be awesome. That is, if they can allocate enough bandwidth for us all to be using it.

I currently play 40th day, Battlefield and Warhawk on PS3 tethered off my iPhone on AT&T 3G and clock in over 5mbps on speed test

I'm sure when real 4G does start to be more widely spread it will be awesome
But It's going to take more than a hotspot running an Xbox to make me run to the first carrier that makes it available to me

I believe you got it twisted m8. China Mobile has 601mil customers, but they don't have the iPhone. The 4mil is from Apple's deal with China Unicom.
