Here in the UK all new credit cards are being issued with this technology built in - it certainly isn't 'novelty for people to show how uber-tech-savvy they are' it is mainstream and now the CC companies have taken it up it will become more and more prevalent. It is now very difficult to find anywhere in the UK that accepts Credit Cards without Chip and Pin (as US tourists are finding out to their cost) and I believe it wont be long before contactless technology is in the majority for transactions,
I do not believe the situation is different in the rest of Europe and I'm sure Japan is more advanced, not sure about the ROW.He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.
