Strange, I have an iPhone 4 on 4.3 and it jailbreaks and installs Cydia but the Cydia icon is white and it starts to open then closes right away. This device has never been jailbroken so I can't restore it to 4.3.

Put it to 4.3.3 and then jailbreak it with redsnow (assuming you are on official carrier).

OK, so I'v been reading the forem and have found a few sites to help but would still like some assistance, dont want to mess this up. I just got a new iphone 4 that is already updated to 4.3.3, I have downloaded redsn0w but do not have any .ispw files, I have searched the itune folder and noticed there isnt an update downloaded for me to mod. A few sites have this download avail. but when downloaded there is not .ispw file in the zip.
Noticed a few people saying to make one but jb is new to me and I dont know how to do such, found this site Firmware - The iPhone Wiki but i'm not sure if its trust worthy, comments?

That is the correct site to download FW from - it is certainly trustworthy.
Just change the extension from .zip to .ipsw and it should work - an ipsw is a zipped file with a different extension.

You can also download it with firefox if you dont want it to be a .zip

Dear Pros:

I have a iphone 3gs, version 4.2.1. Last year I jail broke and then unlocked my iphone and it is working fine. Yesterday, after I removed the iFile app. I noticed that the Cydia app on my iphone has been removed also. Currently the phone is working fine. I would like to get some help in reinstalling Cydia. My notebook PC's OS is windows Vista. Please help. Thanks

I need some advice. I have an Iphone 4 and I am running a 4.0.1 jailbreak. I cant use some themes so I want to upgrade my firmware and jailbreak. Should I use pkgbackup or aptbackup? Also, can someone please list the steps simply? Just tell me if there is something very important that I need to before restoring my phone and jailbreaking it again. I dont know if this matters but I live in Japan. There is only one carrier and I dont know anything about tethered or untethered etc. Should I restore or update? What firmware should I use?

Buy and use pkgbackup, restore to 4.33 and JB with RedSn0w 9.6b16

So there is no point in downloading the custom ISPW if I dont plan to unlock, correct?? Update to 4.3.3, run snowbreeze and I'm good to go?? Sounds too easy.....................

I just want iTether dammit! My iPhone 4 has TetherMe ready to go, but I can't connect my iPad 2 without iTether!! Someone made reference to connecting the iPad 2 to my iPhone 4 via Bluetooth, but that doesn't seem to be working. Any suggestions?

So im running redsnow rc18 and its asking me to browse for a current ISPW........I didnt download a custom ISPW becuase I dont need the unlock. How do I get the "NEXT" button to highlight so I can move forward?

You need to download a copy of a regular 4.3.3 firmware and point redsnow to that. You can get that form the downloads section of this site. Best to download it with firefox too.

Ok that makes sense. Thankfully I downloaded the 4.3.3 firmware. One more question. The firmware usually comes in a zip file, correct? After I extract it, it just pops upa a regular file with multiple folders in it...............am I doing something wrong? I know the ISPW is suppose to look like a little cube but Im not getting that. Im running Windows 7.........
