SlideAway: Android-Inspired Lockscreen

When it comes to theming and tweaking, the lockscreen is up there as being one of the most themed parts of any iDevice ever. There are many varieties, features, and the like that make them intriguing to buy or install. Below I'd like to showcase to you new upcoming tweak for your lockscreen: SlideAway. It's a creation of Filippo Bigarella (@filippobiga) and adds some awesome features to the lockscreen. It hasn't been released yet however it should be in the coming weeks/months.
From past interviews and chatting sessions with Filippo, I think we've developed into great friends and I really appreciate all the work that he's done for the jailbreak community. Some of his work is listed below:
- Springtomize
- NowPlaying for Tweetbot
- Pastiebot for Tweetbot
- TweetbotRotator
- FreeSync
- CleverPin
Because of this relationship, I was able to beta test SlideAway and have the opportunity to elaborate on some of the cool aspects of it.
SlideAway, as mentioned above, is a Mobile Substrate addon that implements an Android-like lockscreen feature. As you can see from the picture above, it has a bar with two icons (in my case the phone and messages) which when clicked, bring you right to that application.

The term "slide" doesn't go unmentioned as swipe gestures play a key role in this tweak. When you slide up on the bar, it brings you a screen with a brightness adjuster and an image of your dock. The dock image allows you to click on the icons shown to go right into the application. When you slide down, if you have a passcode enabled, it brings up to passcode screen to unlock your iDevice.
Within the SlideAway menu in Settings, you can adjust the duration animation of the slide gestures and change which buttons appear on the bar. But the cherry on this cake is that SlideAway will be themeable!

Obviously as it's in the beta stages, there are still a few kinks to fix here and there but overall it's absolutely amazing. I asked a few questions of Filippo about SlideAway and his plans with it.
JOSH: What inspired you to create SlideAway?
FILIPPO: A friend of mine, known as dena994, is an Android theme designer and really got me going on designing SlideAway.
JOSH: What has dena994's involvement been in the project?
FILIPPO: He did all the graphic related parts and I did the coding side.
JOSH: When are you expecting to release SlideAway?
FILIPPO: Hopefully in the next couple of weeks.
JOSH: What other features are you planning on implementing into SlideAway?
FILIPPO: Not sure yet, any suggestions?
You heard the man, he's in need of some feedback! Post back here what you'd suggest and I'm sure he'd be delighted to try as many as he can or that is physically possible. Please follow Filippo on Twitter (@filippobiga) and keep up to date on all his work, especially SlideAway.

Good to have a new writer, dude. The more the better, especially some from the younger crowd.
If you are privy to access to these two devs, throw an idea towards them. IMO, the most innovative (only innovative) thing about the Android OS was in the contacts/phone/sms apps. Slide left on a contact to text them, slide right to call them. A small detail, but if implemented well for iPhone it would be so so sick.....I know I'd pay a few bucks for it!
Anyways, good to have ya, bruh!iPhone 4 to Android directly back to iPhone 4. I learned my lesson and will never leave iOS again.

Sounds like a nice tweak for the iPhone!
Do you know if this will be available on iPod touches or just something for iPhone users?

Welcome, Josh!
Oh, if u happens to catch Mr. Biga somewhere.. would u mind telling him that his Springtomize might, and just might have caused a battery drain issue.. not to sure where it's came from, but i'm positively suffering a battery drain problem after i installed Springtomize (an awesome tweak, btw)
Thanks a bunch!

Indeed, Sony is in mega mega trouble right now!
To my knowledge, it will work for both. I just happen to have it on my iPhone because that's the device I own.
First, thanks for the encouragement, glad everyone is finding this new and exciting. In regards to this, feel free to hit him up on Twitter and just mention it to him. Be polite obviously and I'm sure he'd be able to figure if he can help you our or change a problem if applicable. I'll tell him also (he likes to snoop around forums himself
).

@Dalvar3 That I'm not sure of. I'm sure Filippo will look to integrate this as much as possible with other lockscreen utilities.

It's nice to read an article on ModMyi that is original, behind the scenes info and not just recycled news from all the tech blogs. Thanks Josh! Keep them coming.
