'untrackerd' Cydia Tweak stops iOS Location Data Storing

Following yesterday's discovery that iOS 4 on both iPhone and iPad are actually tracking a users every location, on the fly, at every moment, the jailbreak community has beaten Apple to the punch once again and release 'untracked' a simple utility that stops location storing. The app was cooked up by popular JB dev Ryan Petrich released the utility, which stops iOS from writing to the specific database that stores the location. It should not affect any other settings or features of the phone. The latest version is still brand new, and is at build 0.1.

The particular database file that 'untracked' blocks is consolidated.db, it also will clean up information that already exists in the database. More importantly, the utility requires no options for the user to worry about. It just fixes the problem.

It's description in Cydia reads:

This package installs a daemon (process that can run in the background) to clean consolidated.db file) No new icons are added to your homescreen. There are no options to configure.

I got it like 5 min after it was added! I heard the story on infowars talk radio, and was like " there needs to be a tweak for this"! I am also eagerly awaiting a tweak that fries the police "steal all your info" computer, that they can attach to like 3000+ phones! I feel that if they wanna violate my fourth amendment, then I reserve the right to fight back! If no app comes out for it, then I will just fill up my phone with "shock imagery" to screw their heads up!

I'm not sure what you mean by "steal all your info" but I'm getting into the police department soon and I don't want the contents of my phone seen haha aside from the many text messages about pills that I'm sure AT&T/t-mobile has cached I'd like to be slightly more immune

Michigan state police have a computer they are hooking up to people's cell phones during traffic stops that downloads the entire contents of your phone, it's ridiculous.

Check out the consolidated.db file yourself. It contains timestamped locations, your SIM card carrier (MCN / MCC), PLUS it contains hardware MAC address of WiFi access points you've seen or connected. Location data I don't care. My carrier and SIM card, well...... MAC addresses? I checked mine, it contains the unique external MAC address of my home DSL router. This level of detail does not make me happy.

Check for yourself. Copy the file to your computer and open with SQLite Manager in Firefox. You'll be surprised

Works great. Ran the consolidated data base on google fushion to see the map. It took about 40 minutes to load but it logged everywhere I have been since last june when I got my phone. I installed untrackerd and ran the consolidated.db again and all cleared up. Good app.

What is the difference between this tool and the one Pushfix released? I was told it is that untracked has the daemon, while Pushfix's release does not.
Which one is better?
