Sounds good anyway...sounds! Many patents don't make the final cut. Apple giving more control...hahahaha we shall see about that.

Wow... So Apple is finally doing something that other devices could do for a long time; "Over the Air" activations, been around for awhile. Good Job Apple; your catching up with the rest of the world.

04-20-2011, 10:02 AM #26Off the racism... back to iPhones...
So what exactly does this do for anyone? What "activation" are we talking about? Apple's ability to tell me what cell carrier to use isn't exactly giving me more options.
I miss the days of just popping a new sim in my phone and that was it... no activation, network just pops up and you go... Oh wait... that's totally what I do, thanks to jailbreak and ultrasn0w...

Do you really need a patent for a device to connect to Wifi/3G and phone home to Apple?

This is what I understand if Im wrong please explain me, Apple need a patent so they can activate the iPhone like ATT do when they activate it when you buy it. Am I right?
