What the hell are Apple thinking. Even Xcode won't start on Lion without the Java Runtime installed.

It has been amply noted that Java will be called for an install the first time you NEED Java.

It just seems really odd for Apple to be slating Java and talking about phasing it out (that's if the talk is to be believed) when it's essential for their prime developing application. Seems a little hypocritical to me. That's all I was getting at.

I understand of course Xcode is an optional install and never used by the general public so I can sort of see why there's no harm in their eyes to make Java an optional too.

Is there someway apple can provide an update for Lion allowing powerpc applications. I was so happy with snow leopard. At the very
least is their someway I can go back to snow lepord?
