iPhone Maps to get Turn-by-turn Voice Navigation via Cydia Tweak
A new Cydia tweak that will allow iPhone users to get turn-by-turn voice navigation directly from Apple's native Google Maps app. This feature has been available for Android for quite some time, but iPhone users have been relying completely on third-party apps, some of which are quite expensive (but offer an extensive list of features.) Services such as MapQuest also offer turn-by-turn navigation, but having voice navigation built-in to the phone's native app would be a very nice addition for users.
The tweak is "coming soon" to the Cydia store. There's no word as to how much the app will cost. This feature is one of the most talked-about feature for operating systems such as android. Having this tweak would create yet another valuable reason to jailbreak your iPhone.
We can only hope that this tweak will only be a temporary solution. Hopefully Apple can bring this feature to iOS natively in a future software update. We'll just have to wait and see. For now, enjoy the preview video.

Cool to hear. Maybe they could add a scale to the maps too!

Amazing, of course news drops right after I purchase Navigon lol. Oh well, I like the 3d views in Navigon. Finding things in google maps is a little easier though, I'll admit that!
--edit-- I do not see myself paying for this app. Mostly because I just purchased Navigon, but also because I'd hate to pay for this only to see Apple give it away in an upcoming SW release.

Judging from the video it doesn't look like the android version I had on my droid. Guess I'll have to wait and see more video. I'll definitely buy if it's similar.

Google Maps routing is total junk. It's very basic and far from the quality of dedicated GPS companies like Garmin and TomTom. Had I followed Google Map's directions for getting from Minneapolis to St. Louis rather than my in car GPS and the TomTom on my iPhone, it would have taken me more than an extra HOUR (70 miles) to get there. Same deal from St. Louis to Chicago. Extra hour (60 miles) based on Google Maps directions. Additionally it doesn't know many 1-way streets are 1-way.

Fail. Google Maps downloads map data as it needs it. When driving in the boonies, or anywhere else with no coverage, it's useless. CoPilot has all map data stored on device, and it's only $8.00 for US map plus voice directions (win).

What the heck is a 'brureto'? I hope you weren't trying to spell burrito...

Nevertheless, very much looking forward to this tweak! It'd come in handy for me.
