I agree that people with andriod iphone doesn't know what they are doing. But Honeycomb (Android 3.0) is something that makes Xoom powerful. Honestly, if Xoom runs on Android 2, it will be garbage. Android 3.0 has everything and even more features than iOS 4, however, the ONLY downside would probably be appstore having MORE apps whereas android marketplace isn't. BUT this might change due to the fact that Honeycomb's interface being so much better than iOS (no kidding, look at the gmail app from honeywell, how their interface do), more developer might put their hand on android development.

Well the problem is Apple did not COin the definition nor the term Tablet, IFans assume Tablet only means Ipad and that is sad, true techies have been playing with Tablets since the 90's ( I have) and guess what? They were not Ipads.
Some of the first that had the same capabilities were Uh
Palm devices, guess some of you are too young to have used them.
Fujitsu History for tablets:
I stopped at 2001 you can click on the site if you want. Amazing how Apple comes out with something and everything else that happened before and after is not real, true ore exists per some people............Some of the "industry firsts" for which Fujitsu tablets were responsible:
* 1993: First pen tablet to use an integrated wireless LAN
* 1993: First pen tablet to offer four different operating systems
* 1993: First pen tablet to use a PCMCIA Type III hard drive as the main storage device
* 1994: First pen tablet to use a magnesium frame and co-molding (with plastic and rubber).
* 1994: First pen tablet to use an off-the-shelf battery pack rather than a custom pack
* 1994: First pen tablet to offer Windows® 95 as its operating system
* 1997: First commercially available pen tablet to run Windows® NT.
* 1997: First pen tablet computer to use USB ports
* 1997: First pen tablet to use a 128-bit video controller
* 1997: First pen tablet to use Zoomed Video.
* 1997: First pen tablet to offer all four display technologies:
1. TFT color
2. DSTN color
3. Transmissive Monochrome
4. Transflective Monochrome.
* 1997: First "radio-ready" pen tablet computer
* 1997: First pen tablet designed specifically for use in the healthcare industry
* 1998: First pen tablet to use a color transflective display for indoor/outdoor use
* 1999: First pen tablet to employ a liquid-filled resistive (passive) digitizer
* 1999: First pen tablet to support the Windows CE H/PC Pro operating system
* 2000: First pen tablet computer to have processing power that was equivalent to a notebook computer
* 2000: First pen tablet computer to use a Pentium® III processor
* 2001: First pen tablet to use Ultra Low Voltage chip
You see Tablets are not always full blown PC's like many on here keep saying, they have had ARM processors in them at times and even stuff like DOS and WIndows on a ROM chip for faster boot.
Yes on the street until you ask the right people they will not know about fujitsu for instance, until you run across a Home care Nurse, these tablets have been used in home care since the 90's (I know I used one) when a Large city Home Care like a VNA uses a device that 300 to 500 others use I think they will recall, when a Hospital that employs thousands use tablets ( Not Ipads) to record Patient Data and inventory uses these non Ipad Tablets I think they know about them.
But As I said they were not for consumers, Ipad is marketed as a consumer product ( and at first an expensive Toy) but I can see more uses for it, but it will not be used I think, in the medical industry widely until some improvements like the OS and SD slot and more PC like power.
Last time
Tablet as a term is not exclusive to Ipad, its a term that existed long before and other manufactures had tablets out for 10 or more years before Fujitsu is one of them, Just type Stylus Tablet on Ebay and you will see hundreds and even thousands any given time, some with windows 3.1 still as the OS............
there are Consumer Tablets
there are Business Tablets ( few if any are and will be Ipads as they are now)Last edited by DRFP; 02-10-2011 at 10:46 AM.

"Gruber made it clear that his guess was pure speculation, Siegler quotes a "very good" anonymous source as saying that Apple is planning a "big fall surprise" relating to the iPad 3, and asserts that this is "not a guess."
At least Gruber was smart enough to give himself an out, highly doubt Apple would be this stupid. From a hardware standpoint what are they going to add that would make it more compelling than iPad2 ?
A real keyboard, ClamCase has already done that but they're missing in action.I don't drink kool-Aid, I don't join cults.
This is why I break out in cold sweat going to Apple retail store.

Give me a break... If anything, I'm a Microsoft fanboy, but the fact is that Apple created a new market that is extremely viable, and is expected to grow by a factor of 12 (!!!) in the next four years. Apple currently controls between 75 and 95% of said market (depending on what numbers you are looking at). Some analysts think this will drop below 50% in two years. Apple does not want this, and it's not unreasonable to think Apple will increase their refreshes closer to computer timelines in an effort to defend their position. We're talking about a $500+ device that will be shipping 150 million units or more a year in four years.

Only the consumer Tablet Market
As I said I doubt the Hospitals and clinics will adopt them fast ( you know they are also a big market)
Also Business are not as Fickle as the Public, remember Newton? I know Apple would love that to be buried forever in History.
If Ipad does not evolve and something cooler and more useful comes along....... it may die. Ipad is not even a year old yet and already we are talking about version 3................
8 to 10 million in 2010 to 150 million a year? 15 times? It has not happened until it happens friend..............We're talking about a $500+ device that will be shipping 150 million units or more a year in four years.Last edited by DRFP; 02-10-2011 at 11:49 AM.

I wouldn't be too shocked with iPad 3 in september but I think it's highly unlikely that it will happen as it would definitely upset the fan base of apple products December might be more ok for people but 5 months later is pushing it.

From showing up on the main page? I doubt you can. I wish you could block every article with the word rumor.
I come to this site for jailbreak and unlock news. It pains me to see blind rumor and speculation written about as if it's going to happen tomorrow. I thought it was supposed to be a place for Apple related NEWS
The quality of articles in recent years has plummeted.

I really don't think that this will, and really hope that it doesn't happen
You don't like the iPad because you don't have one!

I think you missed the point entirely there. Laptops and tablets are not the same. No one said that tablets will overtake them, they won't, at least not for quite a while. Apple DOES own the tablet computing market. You show me a company that has more tablets out there, there isn't one. Fujitsu sells cool tablets, but they are expensive and are for some super niche markets.. Panasonic tough books have convertible options available, but don't come close either. Also, have you not heard of the app store? - immahottguy
I was actually referring to the point someone made about ipads taking over the pc market. Yes I do agree that iPads do however command the consumer tablet market. What is this appstore you speak of?Last edited by iPittsburgh; 02-10-2011 at 02:47 PM.

This a good and crappy at the same time. How many versions before they get the design right?
Just as you get excited you got the latest, new comes out and you spent $700. Now not only you spent $700 now you must sell it for less spend more to get the latest.

If the iPad 2 / S is akin to the leap from 3G to 3GS, then I say bring it on. The 2G/3G were so underpowered they were painful to use. The 3GS' hardware made the iOS experience so much better. Of course I do think the staggered release of new internals (3GS) one cycle and externals (iPhone4) the next makes sense. In the end it doesn't really matter though; hardware gets better every week and more robust products are always in the pipeline.
They can have my jailbreak when they pry it from my cold dead fingers.

Also, Android is the only threat to iOS. WebOS has no apps and no developer support, and by now we all know it's the availability and quality of a given platform's apps that sell products, not the OS itself.

Nothing missed, we will never agree.
Apple= Consumer market So this equals the Consumer market
Fujitsu = mostly Business this equals the Business market
Apple does not rule the Tablet market for Business its others that do, thats the point you keep missing.
thats the reason you and your friends do not talk about them.
Fujitsu makes touchscreen tablets ( I just sold one on Ebay made in 2005)
They are widely used in the Healthcare field,
But honestly I'm tired I posted hard facts
App store? You mean Palm I mentioned? Palm once had thousands of Apps but the Palm OS is dead and I was speaking historically
That Historically Apple did not create the Tablet
Apple marketed Iphone first and Apps
then marketed Ipad....... a watered down Computer more Iphone like then Netbook or PC.
Its marketing that Apple exceeds more then the tech in these devices
and there's nothing wrong with that.
