They thought the Verizon phone would actually function with LESS signal attenuation? Hah! That's what they get for thinking.

    "Can you hear me now?.........Hello?......He-Hello!.....Sh!t!

If you're going to hold the phone like a douche then its probably going to cause problems. Just hold it normally we've already seen other manufacturers suffer the same problem so why is this ongoing?

Exactly. I'm sure my iPhone4 could have antenna problems, but I hold my phone like a phone and don't try to smother it, so I don't have these problems...

Not really. They have the whole back plate they can use as a antenna.

We are all far to familiar with the good ol "death grip" associated with the iPhone 4, so it's no surprise that similar issue are affectsing the Verizon iPhone even with its new antenna design.

iLounge has posted a video demonstrating the loss of cellular signal strength with the same "death grip", even crippling Wi-Fi reception by holding the device in your palms, dubbed the "death hug".

It had been thought that the Verizon phone would function somewhat differently as far as how the antenna works, but it appears it used the same design and carries the same flaws as the original iPhone 4.

While it should be noted, that this is generally only a huge issue if you already have a poor signal to begin with. I've been in many situations, where if the signal is strong to start, it won't attenuate nearly as much.

It's hard to disagree with the video. Any other Verizon users showing the same issues?

I've never experienced reception issues with iPhone 4 but I guess he's right about fringe areas.

why do people always ***** about the way the testers hold the phone? "zomg who holds a phone like that".. like what? with one hand? i hold my phone like that all the time. it sits in my left hand, the left side butted up against my palm, my fingers wrapped around holding onto the right side of the phone. It's normal. i don't feel like dropping my phone thank you lol.

I like my phone with my antenna built into the frame I don't want to have that stupid looking antenna. So please don't ruin it for the majority of us and stop making a big deal about the current antenna design.
Don't worry I don't think the people at Apple are that stupid as you think. They will come up with a way to fix that won't sacrifice the sexyness eventually. If the first iPhone had an 1990's attenna I'm sure it wouldn't be as popular as it is today.

I feel it helped putting a case on it but I was only able to cut the signal from my phone a couple of times

Well apple did have page on their site about how every phone has antenna problems

I know right, I only hold it tight if I'm walking by a drain or water
You don't like the iPad because you don't have one!

To think that it wouldn't have this issue is nuts. Its the phone design and being that its an iPhone4 its still going to have the issue. Just as every cell phone on the market has, some better some worse.

I am not even slightly bothered by this because my hope is the iPhone5 will be better designed to not have as much attenuation as the previous model. I am quite certain it won't.
