That's actually not too bad a phone. Battery life may suck, though, and that pivoting hinge looks like if you try to close it in a hurry you might break it. But it's really interesting.

That was pretty sweet! It'd be interesting to see 'if' Apple responds to this idea...

Concept Phone Comes to life (Almost)
This highly resembles the concept phone that was posted on engadget a little bit ago, just two screens instead of 3. I like the idea and wouldn't mind the extra bulk if it meant a better battery.

[Observation from an Android user]The phone concept is genius but why did it have to be Kyocera? The phone looks really cheap and I'm pretty sure there's going to be a lot of hardware issues with the screens. I would imagine that the 2 screens are connected by one ribbon connector and that will spell out problems.
I think they should have went to HTC and had them build something. Another thing I don't like is that when the phone is closed the screen is not centered on the device. They could have made the screen bigger so that it will look centered when you're not using the 2 screens. The phone looks retarded when closed. I predict massive fail with this one but I do applaud them because this will get other manufactures making their own rendition of dual screen phones.
This thread explains our frustrations with this phone:

Hmm, I think I like the idea but it jussss doesn't seem like it'll catch on. Doesn't seem very necessary in my opinion and rather inconvenient unless you're sitting down and working that phone on your lap as if it was your laptop.

Well, the retina display makes games, video and photos look amazing. But hands down, web browsing and texting is much more enjoyable on a larger screen - once you try it, the iPhone feels cramped.
Put it this way, if you could put iOS on an Evo, would you still rather have an iPhone? You'd gain a bigger screen, 4G, replaceable battery and SD card storage.

This is a pretty cool concept, but I'd rather have one high resolution screen (ip4) than two low resolution screens. Hopefully the form factor might catch on and some better manufacturers might try their hand at it.

Not even the Sprint and Android fans are excited for this damn thing. This was the most over-hyped bit of tech in a long while...

hahaha this thread has got me thinking about Sprints first iPhone killer. remember the Instinct? LMFAO. this might be a bigger epic fail than THAT technology feat.
The Evo is too big for me to enjoy it is a phone. I felt the same way about the HD2 which I had for like 2 weeks, albeit the Evo is better because it has Android rather than Windows mobile. As far as 4g, I've used it on my brothers phone and seriously I don't need internet that fast on my phone, plus it's a battery killer, and yes I know about the extended batteries, but frankly they're ugly, and add bulk to an already oversized device. And I don't really care about expandable memory, I haven't filled my 32gigs. And my brother keeps raving about a feature that let's you sepak your text messages to the phone? Seriously, that's the dumbest thing ever. If i was in a position where I could talk, I would CALL. But, with all that said, even if I did agree with all your points the Evo doesn't have iOS so....it's not really an iPhone killer is it? AT BEST its the only worthy adversary.Last edited by anmiller07; 02-08-2011 at 02:20 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Pretty sweet, but look how laggy the interface is. And a 1Ghz Snapdragon, what is this 2009?

Good for them for being innovative, at least its not another Iphone clone. I could see this taking off. It's almost like a folding tablet phone, good idea.

Kyocera makes the worst phones in the league, apple has nothing to worry about.

Honestly, my first thought was "Damn, 2 different porn movies at the same time!!"
That said, first... this isn't iOS and I'm reminded as to how much I dislike the Android OS menu system.
The thing is HUGE. I mean, HUGE. I thought the iPhone was big when I switched to it, but this is like carrying around a Nintendo DS. It's seriously as thick.
The reaction time on the buttons was seriously questionable, as well. The second you touch a button on a stock iPhone, it is like a race car. Here, he had to hit some of the screen logos 3 or 4 times, and the face hardware buttons about the same.
So in theory, and on paper, this is a kick *** phone.
In the real world, I don't think it can compete. Also, I've never, ever, ever liked a Kyocera phone. They've had endless problems whenever I've used them in the past.

So I can make the *entire" menu system mimic iOS? So how is that solving the problem? The terrible menu system is still there. It's not an iPhone, so the way it handles and lays out the system options are different.
And that said, I want to make an OS operate just like the iPhone? Why don't I just stick with the iPhone and have a more responsive and useful OS
I've yet to be really impressed by the Android OS in any way. I guess I'm spoiled by the rock solid (even if limiting) iPhone OS.

I would say that this idea is great. If and iPhone had it I would buy it. I would love to run two applications simultaneously and see both at the same time
