MyWi OnDemand : Hotspots When You Need Them
[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4R0kzsE6O2I]YouTube - MyWi OnDemand - WiFi Hotspots are so 2010[/ame]
The creators of MyWi have just released a brand new feature for MyWi called MiWi OnDemand. What's this you say? It's an incredibly smarter way to create HotSpots that won't suck your battery dry and won't be active unless it's needed. MyWi On Demand is essential for anyone already using MyWi.
You will be required to have a jailbroken iDevice, and a copy of MyWi 4.0. The addon comes with a 3 day trial period and if you'd like to purchase it, it runs for $4.99.Having to turn on and off a hotspot gets old quickly when you're doing it all the time, as when you share your iPhone's 3G connection with a WiFi-Only iPad. Instead, MyWi OnDemand connects when you need it, and disconnects when you don't. When you leave your WiFi connection at home and you're using the iPad, the iPad will connect automatically. When you turn your iPad screen off, or go back where you have WiFi, MyWi OnDemand will disconnect. After a simple pairing, everything works automatically!
MyWi On Demand is compatible with 3G/3GS/4 iPhones/iPod Touches (3.1.2+) and iPad (3.2+). You must have purchased of MyWi 4.0 for this add-on.
Jailbreak your iDevice on iOS 4.2.1 with greenpois0n.

This should be a free upgrade to MiWi. MiWi is a great app and I used to its max here in Dallas during this ice storm to tether for work, but it destroys your battery. It was cool that I could I talk on the phone at the same time though. Verizon owners don't know what they are missing. An jailbroken iPhone 4 is an IT or traveling business man's greatest device

How about we mention once you buy mywi for 20$ that they will not respond to any support request. Also this update fixed my issue of mywi not working, so of course they will extort another 5$
Don't waste your money buy tether me for 2.99$

That is how Apple's native hotspot functionality will work. So,I guess they won't be enabling the native function when it arrives with 4.3? Either that, or they are just trying to make a quick cash-grab before it gets here. $5 is entirely too much for something that should be as feature-packed as they come already (many people paid $30). It should be a $2-3 add on, but I guess that's not enough if it will soon be irrelevant with iOS4.3. They want to make as much as possible as quickly as possible instead of just pricing it appropriately.

so this really seems to be only useful IF you have BOTH a jailbroken iPhone and a jailbroken iPad.... Apple just doesn't have their hooks in me that deep yet.

No it's not. Apple's hotspot feature uses WiFi for tethering. MyWi on demand uses Bluetooth, and your iPad only connects when it doesn't have WiFi around. It uses less power than WiFi tethering.
That said, I can't believe they're charging an additional $5 for this feature. Is $20 not enough for you guys? That's the most I've ever spent on an app. Yeah I could crack it, but if I want to do things the right way, $5 is too much for MyWi on demand.
Thanks, but no thanks. I'll stick to WiFi tethering.Does this rag smell like chloroform to you?
If I helped you, be sure to press the Thanks! button over there ->
If I didn't, press it anyway.

+1 for TetherMe
As appealing as MyWi is I couldn't justify $20, let alone $25.

Don't get me wrong I would have no issue with mywi price if they actually provided support. I submitted a syslog file with complete detail of issues I was having, and every step I tried on there support page. This was almost 3 weeks ago.

I don't know where y'all are sending your support questions to, but I had an issue last week and got a reply a few days later.
I do agree, however, that the app is already expensive enough and the OnDemand feature should be free.
Can TetherMe create an infastructure network that the PS3 requires? Thats what I've been waiting for from MyWi but they'll probably charge extra for it when they add that feature!

Not interested in paying more money for an app that already cost me $20...

Tired of getting nickel n dimed by this company.
Half of the original price, just for a new feature....

I'm not a huge fan of paying extra for a minor update to an existing app, but MyWi saves me, what, $30-40 a month? Sliding them a fin doesn't seem like that big of a deal.

MyWi has dollared us to death, first it was $10, then $10 more for 4.0, and now $5 more. That's called taking advantage of people.

Can anyone tell me if another copy of MyWi is needed to take advantage of the OnDemand feature?
I currently have MyWi on my iPhone 4, and I use it to provide a connection to my WiFi iPad. Reading this, it appears that I'll need to drop $25 to purchase a second copy of MyWi for the iPad to be able to use the onDemand stuff, is that correct?

(From the Developer): The new UI, bug fixes, Autoshutoff feature are all free in the new MyWi Update. The OnDemand portion, which I have personally spent months developing, is a $4.99 upgrade if you want to use it. Obviously, if not, feel free to continue to use the MyWi 4.0 you love.
Chairboy: You will need MyWi 4.0 on both the iPad and iPhone - but the license you've already purchased will work. Just the $4.99 upgrade and you'll be set.Send iPhone System Log: Via any Intelliborn App -> Click Help / FAQs/ Support -> Scroll to bottom and click on red text at bottom.
