I had that for a while and it works.....just not very well. You'll spend more time correcting it than you would just texting to begin with.

But yes, I agree. Apple needs to take true advantage of it's own equipment.

This is a /Great/ idea for features that are annoying to enable such as "VoiceOver", I have tried to use it several times. It's awesome when you can actually get it enabled. But it's VERY difficult to disable once you activate it.

I'm not saying that this would work for VoiceOver, only stating that it would be beneficial.

I'm sure there are several other things it could be very useful for.... We'll just have to wait and see.

I'd like to see this be used with google maps so you don't have to type everything in.

I've been using Vlingo (free app)
and LOVE IT! I did pay $10 (ouch) with an iTunes gift card for the SMS & Email capability BUT it has been well worth it. It will learn your voice and is extremely accurate. If it doesn't understand you, then you correct the error and it'll remember it for next time!

Dragon had too many steps to send a simple text and the voice recognition was the same as Vlingo.

BTW, you can use it for:
SMS, Email, Maps, Twitter/Facebook, Web Search, Voice Dial

So it's not as customizable as @chpwns tweak but does all the stuff we use daily.

It's not perfect...but pretty freakin close!

Just tried this out, seems like it could be quite useful for texting while driving once it learns my voice.

Finally something decent for my iPhone 4. Cydia is usually full of far from perfect themes and other crap.

Doesn't seem very useful right now. It needs gps app integration like say "navigate to rick roll's house" but I guess Navigon or Tom Tom would be responsible for these features.

i honestly have no idea how someone has not created a hack that allows ios users to use there voice in the actual system like android. personally i think ios>android for sure but androids voice integretation is really good. if any developers are reading this: CREATE SOMETHING THAT ALLOWS US TO SEND TEXTS WITH VOICE,GPS WITH VOICE, and all around just be able to use our voice in the actual system

Thanks to the video I'm dusting off my gamecube.

I'm a helpful jerk, fear me.

The whole invoking process needs to be faster, like an activator motion for activating voice control.

As someone said, it would be useful if we could carry out complicated tasks like adding calander events, or composing text messages.

And is it just me, or did anyone else find the voice in the video incredibly freaky?
How do you mean, this would be perfect for opening cydia, a much simpler process:
    1) shout command "open cydia"
    2) repeat 'iphone do not lock' every minuite.
    4) waste some time, mabe bake a cake or re watch the lord or the rings box set
5)After approximately 3hours your done, what were you looking for again?

Holy Crap VLINGO rocks!! To heck with this other app, hit one button, write a text, email, call, search for a location or an answer. Plus it actually understands what I am saying and it is much easier than dragon!

    Check out Vlingo.

That might be true. The same thing happened between 3.1.x to 4.0. It probably updated for 4.1 and now you won't be able to get it until you update.

It's not worth it if it means you lose the JB. When u do upgrade, though, check it out!

  22. #60
Thanks!I won't upgrade until there is a jailbreak involved.
