Nobody is talking about hacking or flashing. The deal is non-exclusive to Verizon. All that's mentioned is that Sprint can negotiate a deal with Apple and offer a CDMA iPhone of their own since Apple is already building one. No unlocking/flashing. Just walk into a Sprint store and buy one. How is that so hard to understand?

The thing with the data/voice simultaneously is that current VZW customers won't know any difference. This would only be a problem for people jumping to VZW from a GSM network. Current CDMA customers don't know what they're missing so they'll be blissful in their ignorance.

its already on the verizon website Cell Phones, Cell Phone Plans, 4G LTE network with the Best Cell Phone Service - Verizon Wireless

That's exactly what I was saying. Ideally, this move will cause the basic iphone users upset with AT&T to hop over to Verizon leaving us behind to take advantage of the faster network with fewer users, jailbreaking apps like MyFi that will save all of us tons of money that the new VeriPhone users will be spending.

I think once the general masses learn that you can't talk and use data at the same time and get over the "Look!! Verizon has the iPhone now!!!" shock, people will be disappointed until the new device is released on the LTE network, if that happens at all.

EDIT: Let me be the first to coin the new phrase of the first half of 2011, VeriPHONE!!

I think they're talking about Verizon's 3G. We CAN do it, via JB, but our network can handle data and voice simultaneously, which FaceTime requires.

Not necessarily. When you initiate a Facetime call it switches it to Data and drops the phone part of it so Verizon can probably get away with it.

EDIT: Looks like Verizon will be unveiling iPhone-specific data plans at a later date. Hmmm...

I'm a helpful jerk, fear me.

I don't get the big deal. The global capability: I want my phone to work good at home, in my country, not somewhere else in another country I'll never go to. The voice+data: I don't have anyone that I talk to that is so uptight that I can't just hang and call them back in a few seconds. And I'm usually around wifi. And this issue will go away with an LTE iPhone.

im sure hoping that this happens, i love att and have had no problems with them.

Im also a little surprised that apple would put the iphone on the network without the ability to do data and voice at the same time, i guess there will be no more commercials from apple about that, kinda seems like an inferior product to me.

but overall just glad we can stop all these rumor posts now

Sprint will not allow phones with foreign (non Sprint) ESN's on their network. YOU WILL NEED to get this phone for Sprint (so Sprint will have to officially support it) in order to get it working with Sprint.

The average cell American phone user doesn't take their phones off of US soil. For the vast majority of VZW customers this point is moot.

This is great because it will put pressure on Android OS adopters to make better phones. Every Android I've ever used has felt laggy and shabby compared to anything Apple. (I've said it 1,000x before: I love Apple hardware, I hate Apple the company)

So, now that Android has some real competition on the largest network they'll really have to step up their game to compete. Let the real competition begin!

In WV where I live, Verizon sucks. I have never had a problem with AT&T. I do a lot of traveling from coast to coast, with my iphone 4 My3G, I facetime with my family almost every day on 3g. I tether my laptop with MyWi, and everything works great.

Seriously how many people talk on the phone and use the internet at the same time? I see a lot of people complaining about it but personally I have a GSM 3G phone and I can but I have never had to use both voice and data at the same time. And if you do use both then chances are there is WiFi available.

I realize some people travel that frequently. I just see a lot of ranting about it and think that this many people can't all be frequent travelers. I find it just another thing for them to brag about to Verizon-ers
