I too have just iTunes 7.4.1 and iPhone firmware 1.0.2
I'm a little confused.
Can I upgrade iTunes without upgrading the firmware ? Is it safe for me to
"Check for updates" ?

I have 7.4.2.4 for iTunes and 1.0.2 (1C28). I do believe I will be keeping it this way for a while. I think at this time Apple would need to offer me a "happy ending" and a free iWorthless Shuffle for me to upgrade. I love squishing the ants on my screen.

I have itunes 7.4.3 and with the iphone connected it asked me to update, even though i had the internet disconnected, i said no and do not ask me again. It has not asked me again and i have had no problems. I just disable my internet while i connect my iphone to add music and videos or to install apps and themes.

Nearly made the mistake of upgrading to 7.4.3. Currently on 7.4.1. My question is, my iPhone is still on firmware 1.0, how do I get it to 1.0.2 without hitting restore in itunes?

Nope no more itunes updates , no more iphone updates.
If Apple wants my money they will need to start listening to customers, I always thought apple was borg but didn't know how much. They have told 1 million ( that's what I hear the latest iphone number is) of their best customers (early adopters who pay premium prices) we don't care what you want.
Also not buying the apple tv I was going to get.Last edited by LGgeek; 09-29-2007 at 12:50 PM.
I don't drink kool-Aid, I don't join cults.
This is why I break out in cold sweat going to Apple retail store.

I'm not updating again unless I KNOW I'm able to mod my phone, or its a really big update.

Yes i can add music/videos/photos and update contacts while the internet is disconnected.
the only possible problem i see is that i never downloaded 1.1.1 but when i connected my iphone it asked me to update to 1.1.1 with my internet disconnected so i don't know if when i updated to 7.4.3 it downloaded 1.1.1 for a future update.
The other thing is that if this is true i will need to downgrade to an older version of itunes, anyone have a link to a stable version with 1.0.2? this is incase of a bug or crash and i need to restore then unlock again.
other than that its fine.

sticking with 7.4.1 / 1.0.2 until 1.1.1 is cracked or jobs finally gives us flash....show me something that's really worth upgrading for...not just a storefront that should make more money for apple...how much sense do they think they're making with 1.1.1? I know there are some benefits, but overall, we're getting screwed with the update.
I can't freakin wait until they announce and release leopard and the iphone SDK so we can have our cake and eat it too...Black 16GB 3G iPhone w/bestskinever

Hold Shift+Restore
And it'll give you the option of what firmware you want to restore to (you have to select the .ipsw).
Just make sure you have the firmware .ipsw somewhere on your hard-drive.
You can download the 1.0.2 firmware at:

Hi Again, I found this on Itunes. went to see Preferences and disable automatic update. Hopefully this will stop updating new software updates and somehow install new update.
