So you're the ****** sucking all the bandwith with your netflix streaming while I can't even send out a MMS because the WiFi keeps going down. Thanks *******. I'll keep you in mind when I intentionally keep crashing the WiFi due to my bitterness over having to compete for bandwith with movie-streamers like yourself when I'm just trying to perform basic functions.
On a side note, I'd love to see them implement a tiered-level of pricing for the WiFi so you have to pay out the *** to watch netflix. Something ridiculous so if you really think streaming that movie is worth $40 then you can do it while I'm free to send all the emails/sms/sms I want for free. I may still have the same results but at least I know the airlines are bleeding you dry for you NEEDING to see that movie on a small screen in a shaky airline with people moving around. Suddenly paying $12 for a mediocre 3D movie in a packed theater on a Friday night doesn't sound so bad.
The only problems with free wifi are the number of people that use it and what they do with it. If its free, it will be slow and extremely bogged down. Furthermore it is free meaning it is public meaning hackers will have a field day with it. That's why you don't enter passwords or use anything requiring security when you're on free/open wifi. Ever wonder how your facebook got hacked? Probably wasn't because someone guessed your password was "7alpha9omega261947" but rather that you used unsecure public/free wifi somewhere and/or you left yourself logged into a computer at a cafe, etc.Last edited by alexevo; 12-13-2010 at 12:59 PM. I feel like were going to start seeing these everywhere like in restaurants at the booths and tables
You don't like the iPad because you don't have one!

Well, every flight I've been on that offered wifi explicitly prohibits streaming video or using VOIP. But yes, jerks still do it.
Also, most people get their accounts hacked because they don't use common sense and use very low-level passwords. I use public wifi all the time and never once got an acct hacked.

This doesn't really improve airports around the country.
It gives people with smart phones something to do while they are waiting for the airlines to get their s**t together! I remember when you could show up at the airport within 30 minutes of departure and not have any problems checking in/getting on board/etc...
well said!

30 minutes was only doable at places like Lubbock International Airport, where I could see one end of the airport from the other. Living near DFW almost all my life, 30 minutes was a total pipe dream regardless of what regulations were in place.
