Glif Tripod Mount/Stand Now On Sale

Studio Neat is now taking orders for the Glif, a combination tripod mount and kickstand for the iPhone 4. After designing the product, the two designers decided to crowd-source the startup funding on Kickstarter.com and ended up receiving more than ten times the $10,000 they originally wanted. The stand may or may not make it to customers by Christmas, the designers say, but you can order one today for $20.
New York City's Tom Gerhardt, a software and hardware developer, and Dan Provost, an interaction designer, came up with an idea for a simple stand with a tripod mount on it. They originally set out to raise $10,000 in order to fund production through Kickstarter.com, and the elegant design got them a lot of attention. By the end of the 28-day funding period, they had pulled in a total of $137,417 in pledges.
Injection-molded from recyclable rubberized plastic, the Glif comes with a 1/4"-20 threaded nut designed to fit any standard tripod or camera mount. It's also cleverly grooved and angled so that it can be used as a kickstand in vertical and horizontal orientation, or left in place along the long dimension to act as a bumper, preventing the Death Grip by insulating the two antennas.
Shipping begins in 2-3 weeks. They say they are "making every effort to have these to you by the holidays," but can't guarantee that people will have their Glifs by December 25. However, they do suggest that "everyone sends positive vibes to our fulfillment service."

Those stands make this look embarassing, I bought one for my 3GS and never regretted it.

I could pay for it from $4.99 to $8.99 no more than that, plus it look like if you havet a cover or a bumper you got to take it out so you can use it and as you see in the picture it don't offer protection for the iPhone, the iPhone is touching the the table. It is not a holder it is a stand.

The point of it is that it's a tripod mount. The kickstand aspect is just another feature of it.

I have one of these too. I like it very much and was only $8
and made from genuine Asian metal!
Great holder for sure, but it does not do what the product listed here does.
The listed product is atri-pod mount, and not just a stand as shown in the lead pic.
It appears it would slide into the holder in either landscape or portrait view, and it is very portable. The problem I see is the price point. It would sell a bunch at $9.99, but not so much at $20. I am ready to make my own from an old case since I have a few laying around unless someone puts a decent one out that is fairly priced.Last edited by luvmytj; 11-28-2010 at 11:36 AM.

I once prayed to God for an iPhone, but quickly found out He didn't work that way...so I stole an iPhone and prayed for His forgiveness.
