That's kinda the reason i never left 3.1.2.. i always wait to hear something, but it just seems like every fw after 3.1.3 was horrible or not worth the time to update to... But i'm hearing 4.2 isn't all that bad on the 3G (not great, but apparently the most usable of the 4x firmware), so as usual I play the waiting game.

Each update places a new set of obstacles for the JB Hackers!!! So ur ip4 filesystem can, technically, be accessed with this new 4.2.1 FW, but that's the extent of it until the Dev Team, Chronic Dev, comex, saurik, chpwn, Geohot, etc. figure out 'new' ways to present us with what ww r used to.

That's kinda what made me draw the conlusion to begin with. I once got stuck in a "Connect to iTunes" screen on my iPad and just ran linera1n to kick it out (let it run to EOJ) and it worked fine.

Jailbroke my 4 with no issues. Yeah, it's tethered but I can't recall the last time I rebooted when I wasn't near a computer so time to live in the danger zone I guess. My3G is the only thing that crapped out on me while installing.

Pre-4.2.x SSH's have nothing to do with anything except being able to return to the previous version they were originally signed for.

i keep getting the 1303 error and i cannot get out of recovery mode and into DFU. Never had this problem before, I can't even restore to the official 4.2.1. and tiny umbrella will not kick me out of rec. What the hell do i do

edit: nm finally got dfu, here's hoping.

Is ur host file changed to point to saurik? If so, delete it (the saurik line) and try again. Let us know...

I hope you mean 1033.

Try RecBoot. I've found that sometimes one utility will work better than another with kicking you out of recovery mode.

Has anyone tried limera1n for their 4.2.1 JB? I thought I read it works but Cydia wasn't updated at that time. I might try that tonight w/ my iPad.
