I think it'll be an interesting few years. On one hand, Apple's extreme secrecy and demand for absolute control will kill it. Androids extreme openness could kill it as well.
The way I look at it, as with all Apple products. They are designed for the technologically impaired. Period.

I agree with Steve and think android will be the future. Oh wait I don't agree with steve or do I? Anyway iOS looks better than android but android being open source is more versatile usuable and will be able to evolve into bigger and better things.

Instead of being the moral God, messany, why don't you get off your fat a#* and ask the guy. Why do all you lazy "journalists" rely on others to ask the questions for you. Call the guy, he might just give you an answer, but then again probably won't like the answer, because the truth is boring ay, mr journalist?

The Android OS might be installed in so many devices, but some of the devices run like crap, like my Galaxy Spica i5700. It has a 800mhz cpu and I think 256mb ram but a 3GS from last year runs so much faster than this pile of dog ****. I hope my carrier returns my iPhone 4 as soon as possible (warranty) coz I'm getting tired of rooting and installing mods on this samsung phone. Doesn't even support official Froyo, I have to install custom roms for modded Froyo. Give me the stability and boring UI of iOS anyday, at least I can use it.

I think what he/she was trying to say is that Apple strive for simplicity.
Android OS has more in depth customizability and options than iOS, as I persionlay find my iphone alot easier to do/change stuff than on my m8s Desire.
iOS is just more simple (but limited, why I JB)
see I would love an option to replace Spotlight with toggles for power, wifi and so on like Android OS lets you do.Apple are Control freaks we need to stop them before they take over the world!!

The worst thing about smartphones today are their contract prices...no matter what platform you are running. Android will always outsell iOS. They have more phones.

No mis quote here. He was just being honest. Apple could have had a huge share of the desktop except for greed and arrogance and they are on the same path with iOS.

Sounds to me like he was being honest with himself about it.

apple has a good product but their strategy is going to cost them in the end (speaking as a new owner of an iBrick). this is likely to be a repeat of the mac-pc war - priced too high and too locked down.
