T-Mobile Now Selling Apple iPhone USB Cable
It's a head-scratcher, all right. T-Mobile - according to the photographic evidence provided by Engadget - has started selling iPhone USB cables uniquely branded to the carrier as "Charge & Sync USB Cable." The obvious consequence of such a product arrival is the now-raging rumor that T-Mobile will soon become a carrier for the iPhone in the US, effectively breaking up the exclusivity of AT&T's lone grip on the Apple smartphone.
Although everyone is looking to the iPhone as T-Mobile's next big "get," let's not be too quick to dismiss the possibility of the iPad turning up at T-Mobile first. With Apple expressing interest in carrier expansion for its hugely popular tablet, T-Mobile is far more likely to join Verizon and AT&T as carriers of the iPad than a carrier of the iPhone - at least for now. The timing behind the release of the "Charge & Sync USB Cable," however, is strangely suspicious.
Only days ago, the suits at T-Mobile spoke out publicly about the carrier's struggling performance within the smartphone business. One of the factors T-Mobile executives pointed to in rationalizing their struggles is the fact that T-Mobile doesn't carry the iphone, which remains among the planet's most popular and in-demand smartphones. And just in case you didn't check out the news page on MMi Wednesday, yours truly covered T-Mobile'a brand new ad campaign taking direct aim at Apple, but more-so AT&T and its overburdened 3G network.

I don't think there is anything strange about this. Many tmobile users have iphones on that network. The cable is also good for the ipod. Both are popular items and there is clearly some money to be made by offering a cable. When I went into the tmo store recently the sales rep had an iphone 4 running on tmobile.I write Mac only tutorials for the iPhone and own every model. My iPhones run on the following SIMs/networks: AT&T, GoPhone, H2O, O2, SimpleMobile, T-Mobile and Verizon.

Lol I didn't ask you if you thought it was strange. I was being sarcastic. Rumor for a couple months now goes that T-Mo might get the iPhone. I know three T-Mo reps and they all said something about iPhone sales training
I wouldn't be surprised if T-Mo got the iPhone. But I also wouldn't be surprised if it was just another rumor and the iPad pops out on T-Mo instead.

For a while T-Mobile has had a department in their call centers just for setting up people's iPhones on T-Mobile..

How is this news or a "head scratcher"?
I can walking into a Sony shop and buy iPhone/iPod cables.....I can walk into Tesco's (supermarket chain) and do the same, I can go into Meteor (the only Irish Mobile Carrier not offering iPhone) and buy them there too. Christ!

i don't get it, can someone tell me where it says t-mobile on that package? it looks non-descript... the colors are similar but other than 'anonymous' tipster, why do we think this is from tmo?

Who cares? It doesn't mean squat until we see actual iPhones at T-Mobile stores. Until then, this means nothing.Apples taste good.

Isn't it the fun part in life to hear about rumors and then seeing if they come true or not? You make a good point Jeff, the pic doesn't prove it is a T-Mobile product.
I think you're missing the point. This is implying (if it really is from T-Mobile) that T-Mobile will be receiving an iPhone to sell (or iPad, nobody knows right?) officially. It's not about the cable itself
Who cares? T-Mobile users care regardless that this little bit of news is hardly solid fact, it's a glimmer of hope for T-Mo users to hold onto. Of course it's also something to crush their hopes too if it doesn't happen, but hey, that's life

how do we know this picture is from the united states? they sell the iPhone on T-Mobile in other countries, and i'm sure their branding looks similar if not exactly the same everywhere else. this could be from any of the other countries t-mobile iphone suppliers.

The funny thing is, this single photograph is more convincing evidence that the iPhone will come to T-Mobile than there has been evidence over the past THREE YEARS saying it will come to Verizon.
Welcome home, buddy.
