Huge iPhone Tabletop Almost Ready for Purchase

It's unlikely that Steve Jobs and the design team at Apple will get any ideas from this prototype. But I guess anything is possible. Those who criticize the iPad as just a big iPod touch will have a field day on this one - a 58-inch functional iPhone desk that will soon be available for purchase.
To be clear, the photo above is just an illustration - a photo mock-up of what is to come from the people behind Table Connect, who state on their website that "via the Table Connect App you can gain complete control over your iPhone using the multitouch table." In other words, your iPhone (yes, it needs to be jailbroken to work with Table Connect) will let you run all your apps through the 58" multitouch desk surface.
But is such an enormous table-top iPhone practical? Some will say yes. Most will say no. However, all must recognize the potential gaming opportunities that could result from such a monstrosity. I'm all but certain that the eventual video demo of this contraption at work (available in about two more days) will present a wide range of aspects in which the product can be used. And it's an equally safe bet that there will be a buyer for this thing somewhere - we just don't know who and how much they are willing to spend.
No price tag has yet been unveiled for the Table Connect.

I dont get why your all bashing it. It will be a lot of money. Everyone talks about gaming.. blah blah blah. I dont even have one game on my iphone screw that. Play some game a on 2" screen that your fingers take up most of. I think it would be nice to view my house cameras on a table, but also can show me the time and turn on and off the lights, and maybe pictures of my family.

Fish are friends, not food!
Neither is Slow Internet.

I'll give you the gaming part.....but are you seriously gonna spend a grand + (which is probably what this thing is gonna cost) just to watch pictures of your family, eat, turn your lights on/off, and link your house cameras to this thing? What's wrong with a desktop computer for the cameras and pictures of your family? Or how about some portraits hanging around the house? How about physically turning off your lights? What about a nice Timex watch to view the time?
You really need an overpriced table to do all of that?
