What's New In Cydia: MarkRead, BiteSMS Beta, NoLockScreen

Mark Read

"Ever wake up with an inbox full of Facebook emails? Annoyed by newsletters you're not going to read anyway? Going through all of them just to get rid of the red badge just takes too much time. This is why we invented Mark Read, an easy way to mark either your entire inbox or just the emails you want as read/unread, right within Mail.app."

I couldn't have said it better myself. This is a tweak I have been looking/hoping Apple would add but it is quite clear that they have no plans to add this in iOS 4.2, so the folks of CocoaNuts (chpwn, petrich, and stephen) have developed Mark Read. Simply tap 'Edit' in your mailbox, then select the emails you want to mark off as read or unread and tap 'Mark' in the upper left corner. If you want to mark the entire mailbox as read/unread, tap 'Mark All'. It's that simple! Why Apple has not done this blows my mind.

Mark Read is available in Cydia for $1.99.

BiteSMS 5
BiteSMS 5.0

For those of you out there that have been using BiteSMS, you may have found that the current public release only semi-works on your iPhone 4. Well, here is the good news. There is a beta version available that works; you just need to add the repo to your sources.

UPDATE: Now Officially Available in Cydia

There are a bunch of cool features for the iPhone 4, including custom SMS tones per contact, flashing LED (i4), and auto-retry for sending SMS.

NoLockScreen

Not really much to say about this tweak. The name says it all. This tweak will disable your lockscreen (the slide to unlock part). It's a pretty cool idea and I'm getting use to not having my lockscreen. I could dig this.

NoLockScreen is available in Cydia for FREE.

Overboard
Overboard is an Éxpose-like App that allows you to view of all you pages quickly in one motion. Recently updated to version 1.2.3, Ryan has added a new wallpaper option, as well as hashed out a bug that was occuring with the Glaskart theme. OverBoard is available in Cydia for $1.00.

InfiniBoard
Chpwn, has recently updated Infiniboard to version 1.5.3.-1 fixing all compatibility issues with FolderEnhancer. Available in Cydia for $1.99

Activator
Mr. Petrich has updated Activator to version 1.4.6, correcting some minor bugs, including updated localizations.

Activator is available in Cydia for FREE.

Awesome! Thanks for this. I'll be checking out BiteSMS right away! I've been waiting for different sms tones per contact since my Treo days! Glad to hear it works on the iPhone 4, I was having many problems and took it off a while ago.

Change Mark Read to a single button that changes all of the unread messages in the current folder to read and drop it to 99¢ and you have a sale. If I have to select each message first, then I may as well use the up/down arrows to mark them as read.

Looks like I may be dumping Tlert for bitesms beta here. I like the different tones option and sometimes Tlert is kinda buggy. Thanks for the heads up!

Anyone found the led notification for bite SMS for the iphone4 in bite SMS settings. I don't see it anywhere. Sounds like if you get a message your led would strobe. I added the bite SMS source but unable to find that option in settings. If someone does please post where and how. Thanks.

I've had Overboard back when I had a 3G on 3.1.2. Now that there are folders, I don't have enough apps to make Overboard useful. Not a waste of money, though, because it was well worth it while I was on OS 3.1.2.

Edit: Anyone else getting errors while trying to install biteSMS? Most likely all the new 4.1 jailbreakers flooding Cydia lol. Can't complain, I guess, because I'm one of them.

It's free. After the 27th you will have ads. If you want to disable the ads then you can pay what it costs. If you don't want to pay then you will have to deal with ads.

any one else haveing problems downloading bitesms? the source adds fine when I go to download it just crashes cydia.

You can find the LED for bite under ringtones then select a contact and it's towards the bottom of page.
