iOS 4.2 Beta 3 & iTunes 10.1 Beta 2 Available to Developers

Right on time, Apple is now pushing iOS 4.2 Beta 3 and iTunes 10.1 Beta 2 to Apple Developers, just two weeks after the first release of beta 1.

As you can imagine, there are no documented changes yet, but as word spreads and developers dig inside, we'll be sure to share what's new. Word on the street is that the new Beta has a slight performance increase, of course nothing technical reported however. There has also been some discussion about this Beta having some new additional SMS tones to choose from on your iPhones.

November is right around the corner, and almost every iPad user is looking forward to this. We will keep you updated as usual.

UPDATE: Here is a screenshot of the new SMS tones added to Beta 3 for the iPhone.





Note: As always, if your not developer and want to maintain your newly jailbroken device, this is NOT for you. With any luck, iOS 4.2 will be jailbreakable shortly after it's release, or heck, even the same day.

I hope they make changes to "persistent wifi" (wifi stays on even while sleeping in 4.X). They should at least give us the option to turn it off if we want to.

I wonder if we could get a sample of what those new SMS tones are? I know SSH is out of the question since it's not jailbreakable, but i am curious to what "Sherwood Forest" sounds like...

If you haven't already, you should at least upgrade to (and then re-jailbreak) iPad iOS 3.2.1; I noticed after upgrading that I had significantly fewer app crashes, and other Safari-related shenanigans were fixed, once I updated. I would even say it was worth having to re-install Cydia apps. Just my two cents.

But yeah, my patience to avoid upgrading to 4.2 Beta 3 even without the jailbreak is wearing really thin.
