SHAtter is a bootrom exploit. It can be ported to each new firmware that is released. Soooo, they don't need to wait as Apple can't patch it.

Also, 4.2 is iPad only if I'm not mistaken.

Ah, yeah I forgot about that, my fault. So Apple can't update the bootrom on a new update? The bootrom is hardware? 4.2 isn't just for iPad, there are many updates and features for iPhone as well.

I'm as eager as anyone to update my iPhone4 to 4.1, but wouldn't it be smart for the chronicdevteam to wait until the release of 4.2 before they release their jailbreak tool? I would hate to see Apple patch whatever hole they've employed prior to releasing the new firmware.

Once again, the exploit Chronic Dev has used is not patchable as it is in the bootrom of the phone. Apple need to revise the hardware to fix it.

Please read my friend. Greenposin will use the shatter exploit which is a hardware exploit. So unless Apple changes the hardware ,just like they did with the 3gs ie: MC versions , you will always be able to jailbreak no matter what frimware. I have just read this whole thread in about 5 mins and its was mentioned on like 3 out of the 4 pages.

You and I both know that 80% of users here don't read the whole thread nor do they really understand the difference between firmware/basebands/SHSH etc and would rather just ask for help than try to help them selves by searching for answers.
