    Default AppleTV aka "LowTide" App Ported To iPod Touch 4G
    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTJ5yG2LyX8]YouTube - Lowtide on iPod4,1 #2[/ame]

    Dustin Howett, developer of Safari Download Manager, has ported the recently discovered LowTide app, which is basically the Apple TV application, to the iPod Touch 4G.

    Clearly not everything is going to work. AppleTV was never meant to be used on our iDevices, so things like touch response and resolution will be out-of-whack, but I'm sure after some tweaking we may possibly see something more usable here. As interesting as this sounds, its no easy task to maintain and modifying some of the data to get the app to work can be rather risky.

    This port is NOT available for download as of yet, and the requirements to do so can be painful, even Dustin says it's not entirely a good idea. Chances are, you'll end up needing to restore your device after playing around with it. Nontheless, you just might see AppleTV coming to your iDevice in the near future. Who knows...

    Fun fact: The AppleTV2,1 FrontRow app is NOT signed. It lacks any trace of LC_CODE_SIGNATURE, and gets Killed immediately.

    May be nice with a VGA out display. So turn your iPad/iPod into a portable AppleTV frontrow.

    very interesting, many things could be possible with this. Like someone said, a portable apple tv.
    You don't like the iPad because you don't have one!

    The fact that he's porting it for the iphone is very cool but not so much need for it. I found this great little app that's free and will pretty much do it all. TVOutTuner is a mirror of anything you have on your iphone screen. With third party or apple brand Tv out cables and or a dock.The app will show your springboard right on your TV. I've watched movies I've played games really I haven't found a app that hasn't displayed on my TV useing this app. The only problem I've found is finding the right cable combo. The apple composite cqables didn't work for me, I only got sound. But the apple ipod universal dock and A/V cables worked like a charm. Netflix worked great too . I know theres even a app like this for the iPad. So buy some cables hop on cydia and download this app. It's faster then waiting on a iTV port.

    I'm guessing he needs a working jailbreak to do this?
