It's probably due to their dislike on all voip services and their control on the Internet. Funny how it works on my Brit iPhone and not the one I bought yesterday :s

Or hold on, maybe you, and others like you that has been making such comments don't even have the brain capacity to get educated!
Sorry ModMyI, but such offensive comments are just NOT AT ALL acceptable!
As for monitoring, again, this is not the case all over, UAE had that issue, but then again the ME is NOT just the UAE.
I cannot believe how some people can be just so ignorant about such matters, and bluntly comment without actually knowing what they are talking about.
Sorry pal, I do not mean to have it personal about your comment or even towards you personally, though in general, some of the notes which have been just dumped on this Thread has been just very offensive and ridiculous.

Thats what happens when you live in a country where your women aren't even allowed to go out in public with out hiding their face.
If I have helped you then thank me.

Bummer. Think of how excited insurgents would be if they could see the face on the suicide bomber as they press the "go button".
Ok, bad joke....

Actually it's not. That is one consideration of allowing facetime over there. And it is a common practice. It's not racist to comment about an accepted and common activity.
"As for monitoring, again, this is not the case all over."
If you believe that, you're a fool. there is surveillance every where in every country. The middle east is actually almost as tight as China.
So, from what I can see you're just mad that someone generalized a little. I'll tell you what, you want to stop the racism and sarcasm and satire. Rise up against the psychos that are terrorizing the rest of the world and start playing nice with the rest of the world and it might stop."僕はアニメが好きです!!!"

No my friend I did not say that monitoring is not present, heck I live in a country where such a thing is a standard, but I meant and as a clarification, I did not say the monitoring is not present, but baring of services such as BBM or FaceTime is not present in all countries in the ME region!
I second agree on the stopping of terrorism, yes of-course that is something out of the question!!! But the point and whole subject did not have to do with the terrorism issue or even the relevance of this to that, it was about the comments stated that the Whole of the ME region has such discrimination against women and for that FaceTime was not present when the IP4 was launched!!

Wow this got way off topic. Honestly people, this is the Internet, the great equalizer, no one knows anything about you unless you let them. So lets not get into BS like this on a Iphone forum of all places. If ignorant comments are made on the Internet then you should automatically assume at least one of three things. It's a immature child, it's a troll, or it's a dumb redneck. You will certainly not change their opinions on this forum, if anything you will just fuel them. Always remember, you can't fix stupid...This post infers no rights and is provided as is.

HAHAHAHAHAHA ..... I'm really annoyed how Nazi-esque apple is becoming - I had a lot of respect for them initially for the revolutionary products but now they're really not doing anything special for ex. - the iphone 4 really doesnt have anything "new" per se in it - all the technology is atleast a year if not more older, its just in a pretty package

kinda reminds me of the lack of MMS on the 3G iphones initially while the rest of the world had it.

Stop all the rude comments now.
This is not about races or culture this is just about a feature that is missing. Stop bringing culture or race into this discussion in an insulting/misunderstanding manor.
This may just be a pause due to a government issue. Wifi is not allowed in all countries either for cell devices. They have to be cleared. This may be just one of those hurdles.
If anything bring legitimate discussion to the thread and not racial/cultural differences.
MMi has a very wide member base that spans all over the world.

I read somewhere that it is the limitation placed by Telco which prevents the Facetime but don't quite understand that. I thought as long as you have internet connection, Facetime could work.
I think in any county there are divergent views on any issue, and what gets iimpoemented depends on who has the upper hand on that particular issues. Perhaps at this point in time, the group that are more conservative on the issue of covering up women's face gets their way on Facetime. Just a guess.
