23% of AT&T Users Would Switch to Verizon: Survey
One out of every four iPhone users would switch to Verizon if they could, according to a new survey by investment bank Credit Suisse. As the Business Insider reports today, 23% of iPhone users surveyed at AT&T - which adds up to about 1.4 million people - would jump ship to Verizon, though almost all but 3% of them would wait until their AT&T contract expires rather than pay up to $325 in "early termination" fees.
Apple and Verizon have reportedly been in talks over the iPhone for more than a year. And as Michael reported this morning, there are fresh indications out of the East Asia supply chain that a CDMA variant of the iPhone is in the works. Since the current iPhone 4, as well as all previous models, works only on networks that support the GSM standard, hardware changes would be required for the phone to work on Verizon's CDMA2000 network. Apple also recently took out a patent for an external transceiver that would allow iPhones to access a second network.
Credit Suisse's survey also found that only 20% of iPhone users on AT&T consider their phone service to be satisfactory, and only 26% think the service will ever improve. 28% customers would bag on AT&T, choosing Verizon (23%), Sprint (3%) or T-Mobile (2%). And a survey done of Verizon customers back in May of this year found that almost half of them - as many as 8.1 million - would be interested in buying an iPhone when (if) it becomes available with their carrier.

tbh Verizon is overrated, not to mention their stingy when it comes to discounts.

The more people that jump ship, the better for me. Less users clogging up AT&Ts infrastructure has to be good.

I think opinions on service depends heavily on what part of the country you're in. I'm in Dallas, TX and I feel that at&t's service in my area is far superior to verizon. I've used both services and had many more reception and signal issues from verizon. I've also had more customer service problems from verizon as well

+1 on at&t's data being faster

all area dependent IMO. I have a work Verizon phone and personal ATT iphone. They almost always have the same amount of bars, but the ATT phone has faster data speeds.
Really?

At first I wanted to switch over but not anymore.... ATT has been wonderful to me so far and my service has been great here in Michigan. Now Florida? The new towers are supposed to be activated soon down there so we will see....

I switched from Verizon, I wouldn't switch back. AT&T is working on speeding up their 3G network upgrading their infrastructure to support 4G next year. Haven't had any issues (though that may change tomorrow when my Wife and I go on vacation; we'll see how the coverage is).

I would switch but my ATT bill is $50/month cheaper for what I have on my iPhone than if I went to Verizon so I am not gonna change. Overall, I am happy with ATT and I travel all the time so there is some areas that are screwy and there are some areas that are screwy with Verizon too. Just depends on where you are. Price is the biggest thing for me and ATT has Verizon beat.

Verizon is expensive. Their lowest data plan is 25MB for $9.99. AT&T gives 200MB for $15 a month. I mean it sucks that the unlimited plan is gone but clearly Verizon is dumb with the data plans. I heard Verizon might be killing off their unlimited plan too sometime.
My friend who is on Verizon wanted a cheaper data plan since he doesn't use data too much, but right now it's either $9.99 for 25MB or $29.99 for unlimited. I can't believe the only thing he can do is pay $9.99 for 25MB or dish out $29.99 for unlimited which he won't even be utilizing for the most part.
25MB might be do-able for SOME people (not including myself) but it shouldn't cost $10. If AT&T charges $15 for 200MB, then Verizon's 25MB package should cost approx. $1.87. For goodness sake at least $5 even would sound better.

I had AT&T for about 5years now... Rocked the motorola sliver then the iPhone 2G, 3G,3G-S, and now the i4...
And since day one I've been happy with my AT&T service and there customer services from what I've seen first hand has been great all the way!!
I've even received 2 free cell phones from at&t within the 5years. The first was a black berry curve and the second was a samsung magnet. Both phone well over $250 and I got them free.
So why would I want to leave a company that treats me this well!!
Am with AT&T all the way!!Last edited by zeroskater61; 09-22-2010 at 11:35 AM.

It will be a dumb move to give verizon an iPhone which I doubt they will, there have been reports that they don't care about iPhones and that they are happy with their droid lineup. Sprint will be the beat consumer choice, they have the best plans and the network to handle the iPhone traffic

At&T have been making changes to the network where i live. I don't get that much drop calls anymore. I think Verizon is not gonna be that much better than AT&T.

Am with AT&T
But I also heard the rumors about verizon calling off there unlimited plan from my friend who is on the verizon network.
But if that's true, you would think why??
well think about it... If verizon did get the iPhone how many ppl do you think would be using up that unlimited data plan to it's fullest??
I for one know I used my AT&T iPhone unlimited data plan to it's fullest! I mean I was paying for it so why not put it to use right.
So if verizon did get the iPhone I think they would kill the unlimited data plans for this reason!! To either ease the use of there network or simply just make money. ( $$$$ )
