That'd be a pain in the ***.
Your URINE is too yellow, IDENTITY THEFT, CONTACTING LOCAL POLICE!
"I JUST DIDN'T DRINK WATER TODAY OMG MY URINES YELLOW!5#$&"
That also means we have to pee on our phones, no thanks.
else they can make it like a pregnancy test, every time your iPhone goes to sleep you slide to "pee" BEW a pregnancy test thing comes out you pee on it, and ta da your iPhone is open!

IMO, it doesn't really sound like it does. Think about it, if no one knows your passcode they can't access your iPhone. If the iPhone 5 calls the cops everytime someone touches your phone that would be retarded. Just get MobileMe to track your iPhone if it gets misplaced/stolen. Sure it can be rendered useless by turning off your device but then so would your biometric lock. Either way if someone has the knowledge and means they would steal your phone, turn it off immediately, pop out the SIM, plug the device into a computer, hack in and steal your info.
That is actually not a bad idea. That would also give them a new demographic to go after.
Maybe they can make a "Check you Blood/Alcohol Level" or "Are you too drunk to drive?" app... LOLLast edited by havoc0351; 08-19-2010 at 10:58 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

This is not new technology. My sister's Dell laptop unlocked with facial recognition... big whoop as jailbreakers we could probably be able to have this now.

Heartbeat? I would think it would use a finger print scanner or facial
Recognition software, seems much more plausible.

So can you use the heartbeat sensor in a combat situation? Like say....MW2? what if someone is cold-blooded? their iphone 5 won't recognize them?(another MW2 reference for those of you that may not get it).
Also, there's a reference to that quote on bash.org.
"Did you hear, some guy was at the zoo and hopped the fence and got into the lion cage somehow and got mauled"
"really? they need to take security more seriously there. some sort of deterrent is needed. say like, putting some sort of fierce animal in the cage that would attack anyone that gets in....oh i see what you did there."Last edited by alexevo; 08-19-2010 at 12:15 PM. Heart beat is a bit to vague although face recognition, could be the best implementation for this kind of security using the front facing camera or use of a fingerprint scanner or something like that.

This is nothing new. It already exists so Apple is inventing nothing. They are using technology other companies did the R&D on. A practice that they themselves point and cry about when other companies do it.

Facial, heartbeat and voice recognition? So I wouldn't be able to use my phone in the dark, right after a long run or if I have a cold. Sounds wonderful.
Is my phone going to call the cops on me if I try to use it in the following situations?
- wearing sunglasses
- got a black eye
- haven't shaved in several days
- during/after physical activity
- after a rough visit to the dentist (mouth full of gauze)
- after sucking helium and want to call your friends
Though it might be sweet justice to have the cops show up on your girlfriend/wife when she tries to view your call/text history (take that, *****!).
Somehow I don't think this whole system will work as speculated...

I don't see why this will be a deterrent for jailbreaking.
"Unauthorized Jailbreak, Mr./ Ms. [insert your name here] -- SHUTTING DOWN PHONE, CONTACTING AUTHORITIES"
Apple probably already knows if your device is jailbroken, and it's not illegal. And if I have to wait for my phone to recognize me before I can use it, well that would make me angry.

It seems like a good way for them to make it next to impossible to sell a used iPhone.

I once prayed to God for an iPhone, but quickly found out He didn't work that way...so I stole an iPhone and prayed for His forgiveness.
