Hey everyone,
Big thank you to @saurik for his continued work.
Could anyone provide some clarity about how the security holes affect the iPad OS?
Thanks a lot.

I guess no one actually reads the members written news then!
Pdf warner does just that - warns you when a potentially malicious pdf is being loaded - it was a stopgap but didn't actually fix the exploit, This fixes the exploit so you should use this and if you do then you don't need pdf warner.
It is for all devices on all FW (back to 2.x) and if you haven't upgraded to 4.02 (for obvious reasons) then you should apply this patch. He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.

Fixes what apple can't? Really...? Agreed it fixed a hole apple didn't, but not cause they couldn't, because they didn't know it existed till it was exploited. I believe they released a 4.0.2 to patch it officially right?

No.
They knew the exploit and have released 4.02 to fix it for 3G and up - but not the 2G - Apple have left them high and dry which is why the Dev Team have had to release a fix.
The Dev Team say fix "what Apple won’t" not can't - the heading of this thread is wrong. i'm sure Apple could - they just don't care about older devices and are prepared to leave them vulnerable.
The Dev Team don't want anyone to be vulnerable to exploits.
What have you installed? Something from a repo that isn't there by default?Last edited by confucious; 08-12-2010 at 04:42 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Ok, so if I upgraded to 4.0.2, how do I downgrade back to 4.0.1? I save my blobs on cydia, but where do I go from here? I want my jailbreak back, lol
