Just because these reports seem to think that this is pertaining to the iPhone........now AT&T will end exclusivity for every phone EXCEPT the iPhone.

    Wait and see.

I'm assuming you don't live in the US. If you did, you'd realize that only the big four provide decent coverage, and of the big four the iPhone only works on two. Of those two the iPhone is only capable of 3G on one. Can you guess which one that might be?

while the whole world uses GSM technology, America's still rellying on CDMA technology. I can't understand, actually no one outside of US can. GSM phones are usually better, besides the variety of phones is hugely bigger. It makes no sense for an globalized company like Apple, put so much efford in a product that could only sell in one country. In several countries like Brazil, some companies dropped CDMA, because the GSM carries and phones were selling more.

Personally, I hope Verizon DOES get the iPhone. Then I hope all the crybabies that think Verizon is such a superior carrier switch over. Not only will they find out it's more expensive for similar coverage but it will free up some network for me. I cringe at the thought of simless cdma technology in a phone without a removable battery. I'm also pretty curious how "The Network" will handle all the droids and iPhones.

Let clear a few thing up. First off Steve Jobs can do what he wants when he wants and look at people like your self and "what are you gonna do about it buddy?" Second thing gsm is used about 50% or more in the US but you make it sound like 80% are on CDMA. Btw I typed this up via my gsm simcard via edge on my well priced Tmobile plan, think about it!!

I long for the day when other carriers get the iPhone. It will create competitive phone prices and end all of the AT&T Sucks! threads. You purchased a phone based on its sexiness that you can't use in your area. You made a decision then so please make another one now...leave AT&T and get another phone.

I myself am on Verizon, and i have to a say I love the network, but i have the most crapy phone ever made (Motorola) so i would most definitely jump on a Verizon iPhone.

I personally switched from Verizon to AT&T a couple of weeks ago, even with the ETF on Verizon to get an iPhone for myself and my wife.

We know (through rumor) that Apple placed an order for CDMA chips, but there is nothing stating that it's for a Verizon/Sprint iPhone. It could very well be for an expansion of the Chinese CDMA iPhone that has been selling like crazy.

Also, Verizon and AT&T will soon (2012) be on the same 4G network, LTE. Verizon will use CDMA as a fall back and obviously AT&T will use GSM/HPSA+

True that Verizon will launch LTE in 30 cities in January (as long as everything goes well) and this would be a great time to launch an iPhone onto that network...but has anyone seen the pricing structure for Verizon's LTE yet? BGR recently leaked info stating that a VZW LTE data plan will be $59.99/mo, or DOUBLE what they are charging now, likely for capped data. In that same report, which outlined the 2010/2011 roadmap of big releases, there was no mention of the iPhone (though if it were coming, it's likely they would keep it as wrapped up as possible).

I'm not discounting the fact that a CDMA iPhone could come to Verizon early next year, but it would make sense for it to be an LTE/CDMA phone to coincide with the launch of the new network. Does anyone want to switch and double their data bill? That fact may cause a lot of people to hesitate.
