my phone was jailbroken and when i did the update, it didnt make me restore first and the sync afterwards was really fast, almost as my info didnt ever leave the phone.

if it didnt leave the phone then maybe the 3rd party apps are still on there but the springboard is limitiing them from running????

does anybody know where iTunes downloads the firmware to? (where it saves on the pc)?

I get the incorrect Sim error, I havent unlocked the phone..just mods..

Im trying to downgrade to a lower firmware but I keep getting an error in iTunes when SHIFT+Restore selecting what firmware I wanna select for the restore...

Anyone else getting this or know another way we can restore?

I'm too scared from what I've heard to do this. I need definitive proof it will not screw up an unlocked phone like Craig stated.

It will NOT brick an unlocked iPhone, but it WILL relock it.

Anybody know if alternative activations still work, such as iAsign etc? In other words if you had an ATT sim but not the one that came with the iPhone ...

Nope, they are built to work with the old firmware. Expect new versions soon to work with 1.1.1.

Yes, except you won't be able to install OpenSSH or anything after the update, so you won't be able to USE Fugu or any SFTP program.

You didn't HAVE to restore or update at all. There is always a choice to just say no.

I did it with only a modded Iphone, that was jail breaked. It gave me an error mess on itunes that the Iphone can not be restore unexpected error occured....Phone still works though all features...
