The one thing that Apple likes to do is dumb things down and control its users.

Windoze never has made patches to undo windoze mods so why would Apple? Its because they have to they signed a contract with AT&T and if they don't actively try and weed out the "illegal phones" they are in violation.

Can you say AT&T sue APPLE? I can. A few years from now none of this will matter.

Apple is just bitter because its end users are just as smart as they are!

PS: sims arent working but i asume this is only for 1.1.1 right now?

My Iphone was ibricked, but not unlocked; the AT&T sim card has never been removed. I am getting an invalid sim error ... restoring (with and without sim installed) does not work.... anyone have a solution to this error. I am very aware the update will take me back to the standard apps....but right now, it won't work at all.

Well, if you plan on using ibrickr then you may be stuck. I brickr requires the firmware to be on the computer. Itunes had to download it for me for ibrickr to work at all...But the only firmware itunes is downloading right now is the 1.1.1...I think you can replace the firmware itunes is downloading with the 1.0.2 firmware which is avaible for download on here. Then ibrickr would work and everything should be fine. Do you know what firmware you have on your phone right now?

Things I've noticed on my Dad updated 1.1.1 that isn't listed in the update:

-Percent icon on stocks menu is now centered.
-New Yahoo images under the menu for weather and stocks. (Though its new on my un-updated one, probably a linked image)

# If you have an iPhone LOCKED TO AT&T still, updating your iPhone will work fine. If you have installed 3rd party apps, they will be gone, and no existing methods will reinstall them.

Alright heres my update-
I modded but did not unlock
I went into independence and set my iphone back into Jail mode
Then i went and clicked restore, not software update
it all worked good and no sim problems

Give it a week and then see where it goes. For now your locked to AT&T with no apps.

Because everyone whines (including my self a little bit) for new updates.

I never said this was GOOD that mods don't work, and I haven't updated yet. But it's nice to see Apple working on something...
