how true, still running 1.0 and rocking every app I need without a hitch. I love the iphone, but I have never seen a company work so hard to ensure that their product is used the way they want. I mean come on apple, the 3rd party apps are normal for all other phones on the planet except yours. eh, my rant is over. I just hope that they don't incorporate some sort of required update in order to just sync with itunes....that seems like a logical step for apple

09-27-2007, 04:40 PM #227When that happens, I'll sell my phone and go back to a flip phone. Forget it. its not worth it. I don't like being controlled. I'm happy right now, with an iphone that is not activated...because...well...I did it myself.I just hope that they don't incorporate some sort of required update in order to just sync with itunes....that seems like a logical step for apple
The minute apple decides to update my phone for me, you won't see me around anymore.

Am I right in reading that there have been instances where people with locked, AT&T phones that have only been modded with 3rd party apps have shown a sim card error? That's strange, no?

There's one thing I noticed about the iPhone that no one seems to be talking about. The battery is soldered in providing a constant source of power to the phone. I wonder if killing the power by removing the battery and shorting the leads of the phone to drain any other power would allow for a "reset" of the memory so it could at least be worked with. (that's the EE in me talking. Forget the software, reset the hardware)
Isn't that something similar to how they designed Pandora's battery for the PSP brick hack?iMac 27" i5 quad 2.8Ghz (1TB), MacBook Pro 17" 2.6, iPhone 4s

Joe, a simple yes or no answer wouldve been nice. I asked since the case you commented was downgrading with a previously unlocked phone that was relocked.
My question was regarding a new phone, no modifications at all, trying the shift-click method... to install 1.0.2 and without internet connection...so it wont detect new Firmware?
Thx

!!1.1.1!!
This is stupid. The unlock is not causing damage - The update is. Apple simply found a way to indentify moded iphones and is retaliating.
It is unbeleivable Apple would treat is constumers like this. All we are trying to do is get better coverage and add functionality to our iphones! Thanks,
Timbo

Oh, I'm sorry. The quick answer would still be no...Once you upgrade it looks like there is no going back down. At least from itunes.
, However if your phone has not yet updated, then yes you can shift click to select your firmware and restore that way. Even if your connected to the internet. You don't have to update...
